in the movie, the fight at the end was technically the ‘game designed’ final boss. Kiaba replaced that with himself.

I hope this is talked about at some point but i worked it out if 100 years = 1 week then that is 3.6 days every minute. meaning 7 months an hour. meaning this entire episode was at least 72 days worth of time. so if the MC has spent one day in the machine he would have spent 14 years in that world. How long did you say this season was?

Okay dumb question but weren’t ais already a thing in sao?
Also why are we still playing with the prospect of glorifying and bringing back kaieba? That mass murderer already served his purpose in the first season why do they keep trying to bring him back.

To be honest, I had a weird feeling watching the episode, also considering Asuna’s point since Yui is an AI too, but from a real world field of view, it doesn’t have any sense to give AI rights.
It is like powering off a PC after 10 hours of work because we have to understand it is tired and he has to rest and so we let it rest for ethical reasons.
It can even emulate the human actions, act like it has emotions and such without having them for real, but it doesn’t really perceive anything, all it does is execute a code automatically over and over, like any machine.
God save us from this shit in the near future, I don’t want to look at my PC like a living creature.
It is like giving rights to an hypothetical GTA X NPC just because it is so well programmed it really acts like an human and he can interact with us using some app, and then he cries when we are going to kill him in the game. Come on, it is a joke, I just think soem kinds of people shouldn’t have rights instead at this point.

Most people don’t deserve rights, I think its a horrible idea to give them to collections of 0’s and 1’s.

I like how they take their time with the show. I think till now almost every important part of the LN has been used. What I am wondering if that stays the same in the coming episodes. I won’t spoil it further but more moral questions are going to be asked during this arc/ season/ part of SAO.

The most fucked up part about A.I. is that while they don’t have a physical body, they do possess a physically identical copy of soul stored into a lightcube cluster. They aren’t just 1s and 0s, they’re Fluctlights.

  26. Tayloring Films

I feel like if we do have A.I. we should combine it with a human, to not only enhance everything about us but also give experiences from walking around the park to sleeping with that hot neighbor next door (this was joke but I think you guys get the point). Working together in harmony

Ok I still dont really get the end goal here? They say replace humans in war with AI, how? How is an AI going to fight a physical war in a way that is better or more cost efficient than how we are currently fighting.

For some background info in case people are not aware. After losing WW2, Japan signed a peace treaty with USA. Basically they cannot have a standing army. They are allowed a Defense Force to protect themselves from terrorists and deal with natural disasters. Due to that they are have a cap on how many troops that they are allowed to have, restrictions on technology, etc. Kikuoka is basically trying to get around the solider cap in order to increase Japan’s military and independence.

If an AI can think and make decisions on its own then it should have rights and protections. What if the AI was based off of someone’s memories like Amadeus (Kurisu)?

  33. Vol7ar
    June 20, 2019 @ 8:20 am

Pretty good review Chibi. But I’m surprised that you didn’t bring up that they revealed why they had Kirito testing for them to begin with. Even though the AI are evolved from infant human brains, they grow up seemingly normal in the simulation except that for some reason they never ever break rules, until Alice.

Alternatively, killing Kayaba could have made the game impossible to clear, trapping the players in the game forever, or that there was a dead-man’s switch that would have killed all the players if anything happened to Kayaba. Caution dictates that letting Kayaba’s death game play out was safer than doing something that might get all the players killed or condemn them to living out the rest of their lives in VR.
