I am deep into chap 4 of DQB1… I am looking forward to this game. I am hoping to get it at a discount at some point. But given that DQB2 is sold out on Amazon (it is $50 now) it may be a while… But from what I have seen of 2 I do wish it was more RPG (true levels and exp)… with more open Building with none-story related NPCs coming to the town as it is build up.

“Sandbox type game” actually when it first came out it was only a survival game where you went from building a house and looking for diamonds to fighting a dimensional dragon

Why do you always say wasting? If it is time you enjoy then it is not time wasted.

I agree, this is my first DQ game and it’s amazing. I’ve been playing too many hours since I got it.

After hearing your review on this game, I definitely would have to say it’s worth the money to buy this game especially if you’re a huge fan of this series especially considering how long each chapter is and how amazing the graphics are as well ?

This game is an addiction. I actually have other games to play, but this one easily took most of my free time, this weekend. Technically, I should be past the 2nd island, but I got addicted to building stuff up beyond the quests. In some cases, it meant that I did or almost did things from future quests. So it was nice that they took into consideration what I already built.

I also noticed that they borrowed more than a couple of features directly from Breath of the Wild. Including an interesting Open world exploration formula that BOTW coined. (Hmm interesting choice of words there)

I did visit one of those highly rated islands, but one has to be aware those may be very very complicated builds where they put in a TON of assets on their island so expect some performance hits when you enter a very very busy and resource intensive town.

This is why I love this game vs mine craft.
The story mode is amazing, everything you do, Everything, has an affect on the villages, for example; making a building for a specific villager would make them more happy and thus they are willing to do more work and other similar things, you can equip some villagers with weapons and they will help protect the village, yes there’s random besiege attacks to the village. You don’t feel alone at all, seeing how happy they get when you build stuff for them gives me a sense of gratitude for going out of my way and helping them, I created a bathroom and there was a LINE of villagers waiting to use the bathroom all with desperate need to use the bathroom animations. The game is lively and still after 60hrs I find more lil actions that villagers make based on how you are building it. They have big monster, at certain locations, that will drop special items and such, similar to ffxi notorious monsters. I love how all things that you make you can use, you make a bathtub, well you can use it to take a bath, stuff like this gives a sense of why to build it vs on mine craft where you build it but that’s all you can do (why the fuck you want to built a table and yet not be able to sit on it lol) , the single player is good enough for the buy the multiplayer mode haven’t tried it but have seen that it’s far greater on ps4, so while I love this game on switch it pains me to admit that it would be better on ps4, specially with the lighting effects that the switch doesn’t have.

I don’t think it deserves the absolute praise it’s getting due to quite a few minor annoyances, 1 save slot, slow asf dialogue/unnecessary amount of talking between characters, the fact that you can’t build much until after completing main story, clunky movement/block placement and camera at times… and for me personally having to restart the entire game after encountering a game breaking bug 3/4 through the second island.
