Kh 0.2 Is the closest to a kingdom hearts horror Game it’s basically a survival horror game due to the soundtrack due to the enviorment and atmosphere. due to the parts where the music stops and something jumps out such as the heartless wave/tide In cinderellas world before you leave to go to the dwarf woodlands. and due to items being scarce and you have to find them just like any item in a survival horror game.

I’ve really enjoyed your “creepy things about” videos a lot, it’s nice to see another one and see what others deem as at least a little eerie in the comments of the previous videos. I’m hopeful that stuff like Scala ad Caelum’s history and tie-ins to Daybreak Town will still contain an unsettling vibe when they reveal more, too, since I’m fond of both towns.

Perhaps the most disturbing KH moments for me are Nightmare Chirithy absorbing Darklings and a Cybug doing it again later with another Darkling. Cybugs were a scary concept in the WiR movie as it was…

I feel like the mobile game offers a lot of creepy stuff in general, regarding Darkness, the names of all the apprentices, etc

In DC comics, it is canon that Santa Clause is able to go to Apokolipse. While in Apokolipse he is able to hold off the army of Darksied in full force so that he can personally deliver a piece of coal to Darkseid.

So glad you mentioned mine at the end. When I first played KH, my sister and I rented it from Blockbuster Video in 2002. After Sora awoke and started talking to Kairi, my Mom walked in the room and asked what was going on and wr said the dude was asleep. She made a weird face and was like “A game that starts off with a dream? That’s weird.”

What if The World That Never Was was another world that was taken by darkness?
Specifically, a world similar to ours, explaining the crashed truck and the numerous skyscrapers and such.
What if the truck is the result of someone trying to get away from the Orb of Darkness destroying everything and they crashed as a result?

    You wanna hear something creepy?
How’s the implication of Ventus being possibly possessed and influenced to straight up murder another person his age in UX? When he remembers it in some of the newer updates, it looks like its messed him up seriously mentally. And I know Chirithy says he doesn’t remember those times in KH3… but what if he did? Surr seemed quite welcoming of Chirithy in that game’s ending. It puts “Lost Memory” and his breakdown remembering his trauma in BBS in a whole different light with itput into consideration.
Hell, him just asking Terra and Aqua to end him can be creepy enough in its own way.

For me, a dark scene in Birth by Sleep was while Aqua is fighting Terranort at the end of her story. It’s when the second phase of the boss starts and he starts transforming, or mutating in my eyes (Idk why), into a prototype Ansem. I don’t know why it’s creepy to me, but remembering that it’s an old man possessing a young man and that the former is letting the darkness in his own heart overcome him to the point that he stores Terra away as a monstrous Heartless is freakish.

  29. InvertedJabberwocky
    February 22, 2021 @ 5:11 am

I don’t know if this has been mentioned already, but there’s a particular Ansem Report from the first game that I always found creepy; apprentice Xehanort mentions offering both living and nonliving “samples” to the Heartless, and noting that they only respond to the living samples. I always took this to mean that Xehanort was knowingly feeding live people to the Heartless.

What creeps me out about kingdom hearts in general is the apocalyptic tone. Especially in the first, 0.2, and the third game. And the fact it’s caused by a human old man who probably done all this because 4 of his friends died. Jesus

  31. couchpotato
    February 22, 2021 @ 6:49 am

The smokey black void in Dive to the Hearts gives me the sams feeling as seeing a bottomless ocean. You see it again in KH1 Chernobog and Ansem’ fights, and text in openings and the remind secret ending. When you dive into your heart you even go through water too. And probably more Im forgetting. Imagine Sora fell off the station of awakening and floated forever.

Everything in Another Side Another Story was creepy to me and still is. Especially Sora flying over the ocean. And the new ones in 3 are pretty bizarre. Where is everyone? Tokyo is empty.

  32. PheenixGryphon
    February 22, 2021 @ 9:09 am

Yeah the Darkness finally ripping away his bandages and speaking as Terra was a big “oh shit moment.”
Now onto overthinking the rest of my comment.

Thinking about it, its a little strange how Sora is claimed to be this beam of light yet he can grin when confirming who he’s killed. 🙂
Then you have Roxas, the dark side, who kills either because he’s told to or out of self defense or enraged like when he tried it on Diz. Possible ying yang symbolism going on?
At the time I had seen it that Sora acted all murder hungry due to getting the Roxas half back and how Roxas was still pissed. After all in KH1 Sora didn’t quite act that way. His desire to kill the members may also be due to his subconscious learning to hate on them in KHCOM as they were the antagonists there.

Two things that are creepy for me is the fact that KH2’s secret reports can easily be read as a suicide note. Most of it is Ansem pouring his frustrations about the injustices in his life, his growing despair, and notes about the next generation having a better chance at life than himself… only to end with the final report asking his closest friend Mickey to forgive him for what he’s about to do. Imagine if Mickey found the notes and realizing what was going to happen- I feel like if Mickey did read the notes he wouldn’t have allowed Ansem to be anywhere near that machine.

Not to mention that Mickey never got to read the notes. It was all found by Sora. So either Sora delves into a very personal matter involving the King’s personal life and DOESN’T show him the reports… or Sora shares the reports after the events of KH2 when it is already too late.

The other creepy and sad thing about Mickey is his powerlessness against the fate of his friends. He was the only survivor of a war he wasn’t even supposed to be involved with. Then spent ten years searching for his missing friends (he didn’t know where Aqua was during this time. Only knew that she was missing)- then after finally finding her again, gets separated again. Mickey doesn’t meet up with Riku in Chain of Memories late game which is never explained…. but I think he was still in the Realm of Darkness still searching for Aqua. Not wanting to leave her behind. But he only met with Riku when he realized that the boy wouldn’t make it otherwise. So he has to live with the fact Aqua is still in the Realm on top of trying to keep tabs and help a boy teetering on the very darkness that captured her… and then losing Ansem, one of his closest friends literally a year later.

I’m just saying… it’s no wonder why he is so set on keeping out of danger and has such a huge reaction when Goofy nearly died. Cause up until this point, Mickey has lost or almost lost everyone close to him. And proves why Xehanort got him visibly angry in DDD- because only Xehanort knows the feelings Mickey is going through while trying to keep a cheerful demeanor regardless… and that doesn’t mesh well.

It kinda puts the secret ending of Melody of Memory in perspective (not to mention his huge fight scene in Remind). The King’s got anxiety and can not hide behind his cheerful demeanor forever.

Personally about the creepy fact at 21:23, it disturbs me and bothers me at the same time because it’s kind of out of character for Sora, Donald and Goofy to behave that way.

It’s like badly written, it’s hard to understand why this scene even exists because it feels so out of place and makes SDG look like psychopaths instead of showing Donald and Goofy react with concern at Sora’s attitude 😅 The fact that they support his gleeful attitude makes the scene wierder and more disturbing considering all the stuff they went through in the previous games (regardless of the fact that they lost their memories of CoM’s events)

Back when I played the game in 2007 I didn’t notice how weird this scene was because I was very young, but now that I’m in my late 20s I hate it because I can’t help overanalyzing it. In CoM we saw how Sora reacted when people close to him are hurt, he was very pissed off after having defeated Marluxia and didn’t feel guilty about having killed him and Larxene, but he wasn’t happy or proud of his own decisions neither, he was just like fed up with Org XIII and repressing his feelings of hatred towards them. SDG were literally risking their own lives in KH 1 and CoM to protect the worlds and there were moments where they suffered, they didn’t have fun most of the time but then in KH2 it’s as if Nomura forgot the stories that he wrote for the previous games and decided it’d be cute and funny to have SDG behave in that scene like: “Oh yeah, those were fun times, LMAO” instead of taking them seriously. And in KH3 we see Sora screaming and in despair in the Keyblade Graveyard after everyone except from Riku died…**facepalm** Makes you want to know wtf Nomura was smoking when developing KH2, seriously 😅

So maybe that scene was unintentionally creepy and just a mistake, I prefer to think it’s a mistake because it’s disturbing believing that deep down SDG might enjoy violence and see their adventures in KH1 as some sort of game (sorry for my bad English btw) Honestly I don’t know how to feel about that scene, if Nomura was trying to give these characters some flaws then he did a poor job IMO

The one thing I don’t get about Guardian is… Riku when he “was” “Ansem” like.. that I doubt was supposed to be Terra at the time (since obviously was an actual idea made later) but like what if it was? Riku just had control of Guardian or something and never was like “wait why can I feel a heart in this dark monster that I can summon?” This isn’t creepy just.. a question.. or could be creepy if it is supposed to be Terra

Btw the hooded figure/hooded ansem.. there are not arm holes in the robe.. they are closed off nubs..

I was thinking about this and Luxu possessing countless people makes him like Kingdom Hearts version of a serial killer. Since he had no keyblade he either has to kill himself to cast aside his body like how Eraqus dies to pass his heart into Terra, or can just do it and has to dispose of the previous body. And add to that he possessed countless people essentially killing them. Even Xehanort only did that once but to someone who put up a fight. Dude is serial killer creepy.

I always thought Traverse Town had a specifically unsettling vibe. For one, it’s full of traumatized refugees going on about the darkness. But isn’t it also the place Mickey went to find a way to the dark realm? That feeling of being so close to the darkness and perpetually night time is intense. On that note, all the doors you can’t go through and the creepy painting guy always gave me the feeling that The Organization was hiding just around the corner. Heck, maybe Axel or Xigbar were the creepy painting guy! We’ll never know

Poor Repliku. Dude was initially fine with his identity and considered himself a separate person from Roku. That is, until Larxene forcibly restrained him and made Namine mess up his head.

I also used to wonder why he didn’t take the replica body in KH3, at least until Namine could use it, but the best (and darkest) theory I’ve read is that he *wanted* to die. Woof.

something that bugs is why is there like a whole city in The World That Never Was like who lived there. The truck proves some sort of life in the city. Why is no one there. Did it use to be a world with people. If the Final World is basically a world version of heartless then is TWTNW a world version of a nobody. That’s a creepy thought the world that never was being an empty husk of a world. Maybe all the people there turned into nobodies in the process and thats why there’s so many of them there.

I’m pretty sure the used pod and broken table are connected to the prologue of KH2 where Axel breaks into Data Twilight Town to bring back/rescue Roxas as he would have to break into the real mansion to do so. Though Namine could also be the user of that pod considering she does enter the data world fully as well to try to give Roxas some comfort about the whole fusing with Sora thing, even though Ansem doesn’t want her to.

For the first one, the machine doesn’t erase your memory or make you forget. The machine is called the Ark and Maleficent used it twice in KHUX and didn’t lose her memory.

For the mansion, its most likely the pod where they put Donald or Goofy in when Sora was recovering his memories.

An interesting thing for Scar, in Lion Guard, he got his scar from a cobra and its venom can make someone slowly turn evil. Although this was made after KH2, its a nice explanation/coincidence on how evil Scar is. Also, Scar returns as a ghost too!

The nature of the keyblade itself is pretty scary. It’s treated like it’s own being and just having one can make you a target of the darkness/heartless. It’s also a parasitic relationship, even the way it’s handed down is like a parasite passing down to another host.

Here’s something creepy for you(SPOILER ALERT):

In KH: Unchained, after Darkness reveals itself to the current Union leaders, it mentions that its kind are normally invisible to those of the Light, meaning dozens of “Darkness'” could be in the room at any time, and no one would notice, and given the fact Darkness can possess others, that just multiplies the creepiness factor well beyond any comfort level.

My personal theory is that the reason Sora and Terranort kept a sense of identity when they became heartless is because the willingly sacrificed their heart

I had to stop playing Kh1 as a kid for a while after Ursulas second battle. When I was a kid my mom used to read the Bible to us and I remember walking by and hearing her say something along the lines of “if you call someone a pathetic fool, you will go straight to hell”. So me being a kid was terrified of ever calling someone that, thinking I would be burning for all eternity lol. So When she calls sora a “pathetic fool”, it scared me so bad I thought the game was evil LOL. Anyway, I’m not crazy religious, and never really was. But it has always stuck with me, that gross fear from it. I’m about to be 29 and still get that creepy feeling when I replay that part.

Considering the backstory of Traverse Town, it makes sense why its full of empty buildings. Traverse Town is a refuge for people who’s world was destroyed or are in need of shelter

It’s Pleasure Island, the whole place does alot of stuff emotionally to the kids taken there.
The whole ghost thing with Scar more than likely is tied to the burial grounds in the Pride Lands.
With both Union & Dark Road ending it’s service at the end of next month, they’ll both showing what happens to Scala very soon.
The burning in Hunchback of Notre Dame is also in the original movie as well.

The classic ‘Your existence is a lie, you’re not real, you’re just a copy of someone else, your memories are not your own’ etc always gets me cause its a certain kind of scary. Existentialism at its finest.

I’ve thought a lot about how, since the Org 13 members were numbered in the order they joined, Isa would have been nobody’d before Lea- so Lea, who we know as always having been empathetic and charismatic, had to watch Isa go through whatever that entailed (and I think I’ve heard theories that Xemnas’ twin laser-swords gave Isa his x-scar, which may also be tied to that moment). Really just sounds like a tragic thing for a kid like Lea to go witness, especially knowing that he’d be next.

The line in KH2 where Namine tells Roxas about how he was never supposed to exist… is so dark, and so heavy. While in-universe, it’s her way of revealing to him that he’s a Nobody, it’s almost like an analog for being told you were an accident. And that’s just… oof.

And I guess the same could be said for Xion. Saix’s treatment of her certainly reads a lot like an abusive parent, what with him calling her a mistake and treating her so harshly.

Isn’t that creepy Sora face in the beginning just Sora’s Halloween Town face on normal Sora? I noticed that in Halloween Town, under Sora’s little mask thing, his face looks pretty similar to that creepy face before he becomes the Darkside.

What about “The True Dandelion” that Luxu loads into the ARK to be sent away to the future? This is probably Ephemer, so he’s just throwing away a fifteen-year-old boy’s life like it means nothing. Ephemer gets to live again — briefly — in Kingdom Hearts III when he saves Sora with the help of the other New Foretellers, but other than that he’s just a heart floating in nothing for… what? Two hundred years? More? Even Skuld has it better than that.

Something that kind of caught me off guard was in KH 3 in San Fransokyo. Before the first heartless gauntlet, in the cutscene, a reporter mentions that hearts have been seen floating into the sky where people have “disappeared.” While they don’t know what what it means, WE do.

I consider Vanitas to be one of the creepiest villains in non-horror games aside from The SA-X from Metroid Fusion, Mimi from Super Paper Mario(Although cute, split her neck open to turn into a spider abomination) and Kefka Palazzo from Final Fantasy VI.
