The Anti-crystal zones are like Monster Houses from the Mystery Dungeon games, only worse in that the zones disable some of your capabilities as well. It’s this latter bit which makes them truly BS.

I know it really doesn’t matter, but this has been irking me about a lot of youtubers who talk abut the show. The game within the show was actually called Aincrad Online.

Other than that, epic video. I learned some good shit about good design, no joke.

better reflexes in a lot of games will make you the winner, especially if they are overwhelmingly so. obviously its not the only important thing but if you can just click heads effortlessly than you can go very very far without having to learn anything else. nice touch with the kingdom hearts music in there

My SO set up an SAO RP and even with just my own gaming background I had a better explanation for the main character being good than "so faaaaaast." I’m the sort of player that looks for odd quirks in weapons, equipment, areas, w/e, and how I can combine them in unusual ways. So my take was that the character had a bunch of tricks up their sleeve in how components worked together, combined with a thorough understanding of other player’s gear and thus how it would influence their playstyle.

Seriously, that took me like 5 minutes, fits Kirito’s "neglected basic social skills to git gud" set-up, and is a plausible explanation for the ridiculous badassery he pulls off. It’s not that hard dammit!

Its suppose to be a game that is only launche in a certain place first and this past the first hours of it maybe only the ones that were first in the line or ore order the video game could have it, and if SAO was real I think it would be the most buy it game of all times.

MB, the reason SAO had such a small playerbase is because it was a closed alpha (or beta cant remember) and only limited numbers of people in JAPAN where allowed to even get to play it

"Customer Customazation… is a video for another day."

    Yeah, I understand.

MMORPG + No Customization = Game with 0 players.

Blade & Soul released a Character designer because they know players spend hours designing a character (because it’s important to us), so they can, on launch day, already know what character they want so they can get in much faster.

look, i, and many other people like sao just because we find it fun to watch, is it so bad that we have a different thought process than you? yes, i understand every point your making, and i thought the same things, i still do, but its just a god damn anime man… i respect your choice to hate it but can you please respect mine and many others choice to like it?

Opinions are opinions. Some will enjoy sao, and some will hate it. That’s just how human beings are in life… You’d think by now that people would realize that every franchise has their flaws and quirks. I just watch the show as is, acknowledge the flaws, applaud what is good about it, and move on. There really is no need to linger on one subject for so long just to whine about something. Don’t get me wrong, because these kinds of videos are enjoyable and all, but ultimately kind of a waste of time… Ultimately, an opinion is an opinion. No one really cares anymore why you hate or like something. So… What’s the point?

When I first watched SAO I thought it was good, now after watching it a second time about a year later, it was horrible, the story telling is worse than the one from a children’s show, the animation, I’ll be honest is quite good, and also, when you mentioned the menu’s I had to fully agree, this is terrible

I spent about 5 minutes thinking about how to fix that trap room. Here is my solution:

Open chest – spawns a "safe zone" a timer, door out of trap room is locked. A reusable, unlootable, and much larger teleport crystal spawns over the chest. Contents of chest cannot be looted or exanimed until the timer expires. Area outside of safe zone is no-crystals area. As timer progresses, safe zone shrinks. Its disappearance co-incides with the timer. So when the timer hits zero, the chest becomes lootable. The spawned teleport crystal is immune to the no crystal effect. Enemies spawn like in the show. Once the chest becomes lootable, it can be looted 1x by each person, so everyone gets the reward if they stay the duration.

In other words, it’s a game of chicken. Can you last long enough for the chest to become lootable, then escape, or do you chicken out early?

That…..took me 5 minutes to think up. If the writers of this show used that scenario, and had the black cats die because they got greedy and tried to take up a challenge they were not ready for, it would have made a dull scene much more relatable than a cheap trap like in the original show.

HELL, lets take it a step farther, lets say that kirito’s primary sword was the loot he got for surviving. Would add so much to the show. Instead of…..this.

4:12 I play Overwatch competitive on high Diamond nivau, so I prob. have a clue of how the game works..
Actually there are two tipes of aim in this game: prediction and hitscann.
And while predicting movements is important for the first one of them, in the far more dominant hitscann category clicking the heads and good positioning is the key for getting better.
Hitscann also is used in nearly every other fps game.
Yet saying reaction time isnt too important is true, since except tracking (which means kepp ur crosshair on somebodys head until u have to reload) every other way of hitting your shots is a mix out of mostly aim and a bit prediction/luck.
    Nice video!

Negate the use of healing…. Imagine if bloodborne has a chalice dungeon that has an area of extremely aggressive monsters and not being able to use the healing bell when someone runs out of blood vials, or better yet, half the amount of vials, to 10, or 15 if you’re using a rune, you would die 99% of the time

People are free to have their opinions, but as far as SAO goes, the "having fast reflexes doesn’t make you a good gamer" is a bad point. Yes, in competitive gaming, these people know the maps, know everything about the game. But in SAO, there’s no way to know what you’re going into, and there is no redo. The people trying to clear the game have to behave more like soldiers than gamers, because soldiers die, and gamers don’t. So, your irrelevant argument is irrelevant.
