I have one question and one question only. Why does Asuka say "Disgusting"? Seriously i have spent two months trying to wrap my head around it and still i havent found a single answer that seems to make sense. I dunno maybe im just stupid but ending the entire thing on such a negative word, espically when the ending it self is a happy one. I know Anno has said that you shouldnt expect to be giving the answers and that you need to find them yourself but to me ending it with "Disgusting" seems to go against what the rest of the story was trying to say.

20 years ago when I was still 6 years old. I used to watch a couple episodes of Evangelion on Laserdisc with my father. For me at that time, the story was complicated that it bored me to death. Especially the ending was like WTF. I remembered he sweared like crazy because of the ending. I was like cmon dad it’s only a robot anime, even a kid like me don’t really like it.
Now I’m 26, have watched again till the end and finally understood why my father loved this so much haha

Insanely smart? That might be, but you must mean insanely depressed. This anime is so depressing, it has an equivalent exchange deal kinda relationship with its creator’s depression level.
I feel like the more depressed Anno is during the creation of the Eva, the better the Eva will be. I’m not gonna even use my favourite emoticon here (this one: xD). I am very conflicted.
