(April 2017 EDIT): Guys, I get it. It’s been 3 years. You have all answered my questions. I now know what happened. I still don’t like it. No, I’m not stupid, though feel free to think so if you wish. I just like my media to not be buried in inane complexities and submeanings. It did too much runaround and I ran out of patience by the end and got fed up, which is what you see here. Sorry if you don’t like that.
In which I continue to be confused, and now also creeped out.
Overall I think I give the full series a 5/10, guys. This is the ending that should have been, and it still wasn’t quite there…

Don’t know if this helps, but Anno didn’t make this film for people to enjoy. He made it for himself. The brainchild of a truly depressed man desparately trying to find an outlet to express himself…the message is: why the fuck are you watching my movie? go outside!
In fact, he never wanted to change the ending at all, he was satisfied with it, but all the weebs who totally didn’t get the message wanted a proper "ending" so he gave them what they wanted.
It doesn’t make sense at first. It’s complicated, messy, disturbing, and not at all something the average person would like or want to see.
However, for those who seek it, there are clues hidden within his work, multiple stories taking place at once, cryptic messages, and lore for people to uncover if they truly wish to.
Eva is bad, but it’s also good. Sounds weird but it is what it is, nobody will ever find out the true meaning of the series no matter how hard they try, it’s buried under too many layers of deception and irony… but that is exactly what draws people to Eva, the attempt to understand it.
This is why Evangelion is the "magnum opus" of anime, because it is both the best, and the worst, the highest highs and the lowest lows.

Forgive the Eva fandom. The defenders really relate to it (I know I do), but some can be a bit much. It’s not for everyone, and if you don’t relate to the characters then you aren’t going to like the show – even if you do understand everything else about it. And that’s fine :).

I found your confusion amusing and I liked your video; but evangelion is great; problem is that people expect it to be regular shonen mecha and that’s definitely not the case, regardless superficial appearances. Yep guys, if you are just looking for some easy show that takes its time to explain every fucking thing to you as if you were dummy, and with idealized characters and light situations, don’t watch eva; you are going to be very dissapointed.

Welp I checked the ratings and I’m glad I’m not alone, I thought maybe I was too critical but then I read the comments and everything felt at right. The whole part of not paying attention to the boring parts and not getting what the show is about then mocking it is the part that pissed me off. 3:07 I think the EVA pilots are inside liquid in the mecha because it’s supposed to represent amniotic fluid that is inside a pregnant woman’s belly. It protects and facilitates the exchange of nutrients, water, and biochemical products between mother and fetus. And since Shinji’s mom was used to create the EVA biological mecha it coud have happened with Asuka’s mom as well. After she committed suicide they could have taken her body and use it in the EVA series 2, Asuka’s mecha.

I didn’t shit on you for episode 25-26 reactions, it wasn’t your fault. But now, I see you payed no attention AT ALL to the series. The second part to this movie is hard to follow, but the first half is totally straighforward, you were asking dumb question about things that were shown or plainly explained in the series. ”Why is Asuka in hospital?” ”Why are they in fluid when they pilot the Eva?” ”Why do Evas bleed?” WTF girl, have you even watched the show? And I remember that, while you were reacting to episodes 25 and 26, you asked ”so, is Rei not an actual person?” when there was an entire episode ( I think episode 23) centered on the fact that she’s a clone!!! Oh, and bakelite is an actual material, you can’t expect the show to explain even that.

Well, If there were clear answers in this movie, it would never made it to be one of most disturbing and controversial anime of all time. TVA series and EOE all shocked audience of the time when it first came out, in both positive and negative ways.
Evangelion is famous for not giving clear answers and needlessly complex background features if I say.

you dont have to like it if this movie is not your thing. just because you didnt get it at first does not mean you are stupid. just because you did not get it at first does not mean the movie is "buried in inane complexities and submeanings" either. the plot itself can be a bit subtle; the movie is not a hand-holder that explains every little thing that’s going on, but neither is it any more complex than it needs to be.

EoE isn’t exactly the lightest, easieast-to-digest anime movie ever. I don’t hold against anybody who doesn’t get everything on the first watch. Hell, took me three viewings to get what was going on in the movie.
BUT, I must say that I facepalmed at the "WHY DOES IT BLEED" part. Anybody who has watched the series do know the Evas are not robots but gigantic organisms, it’s basic info that the movie doesn’t have to explain.

The things you complained were confusing are not the same that most get stumped by. You didn’t get a lot of basic information that anyone who had even a slight background of the show would have understood. The majority of your problems would have been solved had you not started with the end. You knew it was infamously convoluted yet you still started with the end which is was what everyone complains about getting hung up on. Not the end in a general sense, the actual specific end of the end of the entire franchise at this point. The last ten minutes of the movie is what confuses people. You didn’t even know where the cockpit was…”My Anime” My ass.

I’m one of "those guys" that have seen End of Evangelion about 7 times and can answer all of the questions you asked(but won’t because other people already have) and I just want to say this is one of the funniest reactions I’ve seen for EoE. Definitely deserves more thumbs-up.
