In Dragonball and later in DBZ they say you can only go into the chamber twice during your lifetime, I guessss that’s why it wasn’t brought up before? Saving it for a rainy day? Eh, idk.
EDIT: Also, you can only spend 48 hours in the chamber during your lifetime. So you can stay 48 hours in one chunk, or in two chunks, 24 hours/24 hours, 1 hour/47 hours, etc.

If I had the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, I’d do the Following:
-Train and workout so in a days time I have the body of a man who worked out every day for a year.
-Work on a Semesters worth of school work in there so I never miss due dates and get to have fun in college.
-When I start working, get whatever I need done by the end of the week done in there so when i get out only an hour at most goes by therefore I will have time with my friends and family.

The joke about the pirate dream and ninja dream is actually really subtle unless you’re a Naruto fan. When Goku says "I was having a ninja dream, but it ended", it’s a reference to how the Naruto manga ended between this episode and episode 44.

It occurred to me (should’ve happened sooner, but oh well) that Goku and Gohan didn’t technically stay in the chamber because Goku couldn’t stay a full two years because part of his time there was already spent. At best, he probably could’ve managed 1 1/2 years. Gohan had 2 years, he could’ve used what Goku had left and then trained with Piccolo. Cell would be so beyond fucked if that had happened.

PLEASE READ THIS – IM POINTING OUT A JOKE THAT IS WIDELY MISSED FROM THIS EPISODE. When Goku talks about learning it all in his dreams, he says, "Oh, I know! I learned in my pirate dream! I was also having a ninja dream, but it ended." To most, this slips over everyone’s heads, but when this episode came out, the Naruto Manga had literally JUST printed it’s last issue. This is in reference to one of the biggest manga/anime series in history ending. I just thought that was super cool.

The Chamber was never mentioned in DragonBall. I guess it was done off screen. The room of spirit a d time was, but it was a bunch of clocks and and PoPo used it to send Guku back in time to meet younger master roshi.
