The guy with the eating quirk actually had a busted ability. Not only can he bite through anything, but it’s digested immediately, it’s actually a insanely powerful quirk.

Tamaki’s hero name is Suneater because of his quirk. As he can manifest the characteristis of what he eats, eating the sun would be like reproducing its brightness, which is related to the conversation between Tamaki and Mirio, showing that Tamaki can shine by his own way

The sword didn’t disappear, he had it in the other hand. The hand you see empty is the hand he’s using to try and steal more weapons, and what you see is him failing to do so cause Aizawa haha. So he still has the sword back there.
