I love this first episode but I like to know why they are red v blue team’s fighting each other and if characters are actually going to die

I loved this episode, in this review I only understood that they did not understand this episode and what It represent.
Saying that the animation was normal tells me how little they know about animation

I rewatched the fight scene for this and confirm that I was just salty that they dropped the lip flap. The fight choreography is wonderful. [Taylor]

I though this episode was great. The beginning part did a pretty standard job of setting up characters and setting. That whole ending sequence was on another level though. So, from what I can gather, There is some kind of competition going on for who is going to be the lead in their stage show. That seems to be what the battles are about. Now whether the battles are just a metaphor for the conflicts between characters or whether they are actually happening, I’m not sure. The goal appears to be to de-cloak the opponent, if your cloak falls to the floor you fail the "audition" for the lead. I’m sure that’s some kind of symbolism. I love the bit with her pin falling in the molten metal and becoming her sword, she literally fights using the symbol of her promise as a weapon, pretty cool.

It kind of reminds me of Black Rock Shooter a bit, where there is the normal world story going on then like a wasteland world where the girls are fighting crazy battles with each other.
