The pronunciation of Seele is hilarious. Someone hasn’t watched the series.

And this is more of a Wikipedia synopsis of The End of Evangelion and the last two episodes rather than an in-depth explanation of what the ending it and what it means. Describing what happens at the end doesn’t really explain what truly happens at the end on a deeper level.

Im still confused. This anime turned out to be way different than I thought it would. I thought it was just big robots fighting big aliens. Nope, no sir, it turned into some crazy psychological stuff and now I dont know what this show is about. Still cool though.

Just read the NGE wiki. The people who write for that wiki did a great job explaining everything. As other people have pointed out in the comments, IGN got some stuff wrong, so they should just take down this video instead of trying to make a quick buck off of NGE’s influx in popularity.

You people should watch Brain Powered anime. Same concept different approach. It’s just underrated just because the original staff didn’t have much money for marketing.

Its not the best but this is fairly vague. Eva is really something else so a 9min video isnt an explanation. What really bothers me is that Unite1 actually ate Gendo from the waist up not just his head, the movie shows that in the sceen right after

I agree w/ your take on the endings and Anno’s motivation to change End of Evangelion. Eps 25 and 26 were messages of hope, that shut-ins and broken hearts can get better. When the loudest fans rejected it, he changed the story of End of Evangelion as a cautionary tale, a message to those fans because he realized they preferred the fantasy elements over the character development: ignoring your relationships (and the hard work involved in maintaining them) will only lead to your own sorrow, anger, and self-destruction. He gave them a path to their own self-actualization and they threw it on the ground screaming out for more giant robots (and fanservice).

And if anyone was confused, all they had to do was read the actual death threats they cut into the film.

Humans were born from Lilith and "we" are also a type of angel (Lilim). the rest of the angels were born from Adam.

So this is just a repeat of the FOLDING IDEAS hypothesis on the End of Evangelion… I love that video, but I really think it missed some things. I believe that the two endings are not mutually exclusive. The series ending portrays Shinji coming to the realization that he wants to exist… This is at the end of the instrumentality mindfork… In the movie, Shinji has the same realization. He wishes for a world where other people can exist separately, even though it might be painful. When him and Asuka return to physical form, the first thing he does is strangle her, because that was what was happening inside the Mindfork. He’s testing reality, to make sure they are real. At first Asuka is limp, like she was before, but then she teaches up and touched Shinji’s face… He begins to cry, because he finally knows they are back, and a confused Asuka ( in her trademark antagonism ), says "How Disgusting" . I understand that some people see this as a separate ending, but it doesn’t need to be, especially since things are so trippy in the instrumentality mindfork, that I assume there would be many conflicting emotions going on at once.

    July 18, 2019 @ 3:26 pm

Shinji feels no mysoginistic disgust. ?
He is scared of people and their thoughts, it’s quite different.

    July 18, 2019 @ 3:26 pm

The original TV ending was way too abstract. People didnt revolt against the hopefulness, they revolted on how didnt make sense to the fans. Who were mostly children

  45. Mikołaj Piotrowski
    July 18, 2019 @ 3:31 pm

Manga ending is my favorite one… and still different than the movie and series. So there is three endings… maybe four if you’re counting Rebirth one xD

  46. Edward Topa
    July 18, 2019 @ 3:32 pm

You get wrong all the meanning of the series ending, those are not two separated endings it’s just that the images we see on the series happen right before the instrumentalization beggins merging all the human minds into one inside the LCL, and everyone are focusing on Shinji. For some reason Shinji have to take the decision about the future of the humanity and descide if it stays merged or not into the LCL, and for that purpose they need to make Shinji to accept himself.
