It wasn’t actually 1 million %, if that was the case, Muscular would have liquified and also Deku would blow up half the continent 😀

No, it wasn’t 1mil%. The creator used an absurd number to distinguish it was a battle cry but almost everyone was confused, because of the setup and the genre.

Didnt actually do 1million if that was the case all might makes tornados not going plus ultra midorya is not even near that

Detroit Smash 1 MILLION PERCENT. That’s 10.000 times above full power! How does that work? Because Deku goes PLUS ULTRA, that’s how. His body is NOT going to like this one. Eraserhead gets taken out like a chump and the Pussycats get trounced as well, so it’s up to the kids to pick up their slack. And boy did Deku ever pick it up.

Kohei Horikoshi (the author of MHA) confirmed that deku’s ‘1 million% smash’ was actually his REAL 100% smash, the ACTUAL measure of allmights power. He said that 1 million percent was just to hype him up!

MHA has some of my favorite fight scenes, because they’re quite different from other Shonen fights.

See, a fight has two main components in my eyes: Spectacle and Narrative. And a fight scene engaging to me is when the Spectacle and the Narrative are linked. An example of this is the Kakashi vs. Obito fight in Naruto where thescene shifts back and forth between their current fight and a fight they had as kids, to play up how they ended up taking vastly different paths in life. Even someome who’s never seen an episode of Naruto can get interested and engaged by it because the story behind the fight backs up just how *friggin cool* it is.

But in MHA, a lot of the fights end up so Spectacular *because* of the narrative established beforehand. Or to put it another way, the Narrative *is* the spectacle. Because what really happens here? Deku gets beat up a bunch and throws three or four punches. But the underlying themes of the whole series come together and it becomes a clash of ideals.

Also the whole "Plus Ultra" visual of the stars connecting to each other, the same way they did when All Might fought the Nomu… That always gets me.

I know you may have caught it while editing, but I love that the line "A Hero… My Hero" overlays the final frame. Granted it’s slightly different in the Japanese, but it seems like a really important moment for Kota and for Deku. This is after all, the first point at which Deku is not just "a hero" but someone’s hero. Thanks for fixing and reuploading!

His arm is shattered, It may not be very obvious in the anime but in the manga his arm is fucked up with the bones and every thing ….

Fun fact: The part where Deku tells Muscular (the villain) to “shut up damn it” in the anime, is actually Deku screaming “Shut the fuck up!” To Muscular in the Manga.

1,000,000% is more of a war cry than an actual power up. I just took it as kinda like when regular people are able to lift cars in crisis situations.

This is what I love about my hero academia. It doesn’t need to kill off the character to make you cry it makes you cry because a character survived!!???
