Why did they have to air the Disney version? The Disney version (the dub) is terrible. I wish there was a streamline version of Princess Mononoke but streamline was already no longer making dubs when Princess Mononoke came out. Disney did a poor job.

This makes me chuckle when I think about how strict they were in the previous years, I mean shit they couldn’t even use the word "kill" in Gundam Wing.

The FCC is really fucking weird.

@nerfballs2000 People who think subtitles distract from the beauty of the art. I know I know, the Japanese track is superior and this and that, but for those of us that don’t speak Japanese and don’t want ugly yellow lettering on the screen, this is an option.

My favorite Miyazaki movie. I remember I bought a toy bow and arrow because of this movie, and broke my window. My mom sure was pissed, but that didn’t stop me from shooting it, trying to be like Ashitaka. 😀

@djhero0071 you can watch Japanese films on iPod touches and iPhones too! I rediscovered Spirited Away on Veoh.com (LOVE that site!) and watched all the Miyazaki films on my phone. I didn’t need an app or a download or anything! It was bliss :3

@MarshmallowKeyblade8 I remember, they played one movie a week, on saturday nights. It was back when they still had Toonami and a considerably better line-up in general than what they have now. If I remember correctly, the four films they aired were Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, Nausicaa, then Castle in the Sky (not sure about the order).

I remember Miyazaki Month! It was the first time I saw Princess Mononoke, and I wonder if this was the promo that tipped me off to it. Aww, nostalgia. <3

I remember being surprised that it was allowed on cartoon network, given how violent it is. I was a pretty resilient kid, so massive violence in movies never bothered me much, as I knew it was all fake and in the movie. On rewatches, I never saw anything new, so I don’t think they edited it.
