More shows need to see this art style and try to be a bit more innovative. The animation is amazing. Besides that, this story is just straight up entertaining. I was actually getting mad for Joe in the fight. That arm was BS!

I agree that the symbolism and aesthetics are great, but this show so far is just so unoriginal in terms of plot. I feel like I’ve seen this story so many times before.
*MC is poor, but a good fighter
*The main trait and seemingly only trait of MC is their lust for a "good fight"
*MC tries to fight against a richer/stronger character and loses, but the person acknowledges their strength, lighting a fire in the MC to beat them in the future
*MC has a partner/manager who is leeching off of their success to pay off some sort of debt or get rich
In my opinion, the series is being over-hyped. It’ll have to do something new or surprising for me to like it as much as everyone else seems to.

Finally got in on the Junk-train!! So far it’s the best OST of the year…I know it’s probably not saying much, but there were already so many good tracks in just 2 eps, and the ED is top tier. Need more hip-hop in my animuus!!!

Is it me or Yuri is simply cheating?
Y’all remember Shirato telling him that his body is the future of the company, which means they did something to his body to test it, which is, in this case, the gear he’s wearing. If you had watched Yuri’s fight closely, you could have noticed that at one point his arms moved almost unwillingly and he had this shocked look on his face, as if he didn’t believe that he couldn’t yet control the gear which is, in my theory, connected to his muscles and all, and forces him to move before he can even think.
"The future" Shirota was talking about is the future of this technology that was developped by the company.

Definitely the best anime of the season (obviously counting new anime and NOT Food Wars/ Saiki Kusou which are some of my personal favorite anime of all time).

There will be two things that will probably going to be happened to the main charachter the first one was the main charachter will probably going to be just like joe since the show was inspired by ashita no joe and the second was he will end up like ippo from hajime no ippo retired because of a heavy injury.(just a theory).

i promise to God back in the first episode that if he lose to that silly faced guy in the second episode i would fucking stop watching it coz it would be shit!!! it would be very fucking disappointing!! and it is yes it fucking disappoints me!! fuck! why does this always happens!! it would be much better if he started as being an amateur boxer that always win then fight the guy and lose then learned his lesson than always losing then fight the guy he’s provoking and then lose again!! gosh so disappointing!!!

Huh, i kinda saw this happening. But there *were* a lot of unexpected moments . I don’t think it will turn out like most conventional stories, maybe the overall arc might be a little cliched but it’s going to have ton of twists getting from cliche point A to cliche point but to the point where you don’t even know where it’s going to end up.

2 things :
1. this series is soo good. that ending scene where he names himself joe brought a smile to my face.the mc looks like hes on a suicide run given the way he drives and fights taking it so close to the limits
2. The actual purpose of this comment. chibi I came to tokyo ghoul a bit late and while i caught up i did binge read and didnt have the insight which your reviews gave . so with each anime episode could you add like all the important symbolism from the chapters adapted , i mean explained in short . i cant be the only one whos in this position . I would have watched your vids but they are huge and many and that makes it difficult to keep up the series simultaneously.
