Which should I watch first? I’m watching Megalo, but should I stop now and watch Ashita no Joe?

I never watched Joe, but I assumed before watching this video that JD was the original Joe and. Simply has amnesia of his life from the original series.

I’m really liking JD and his beliefs, he’s already distancing himself from Joe as a character. I like that this is different, it technically isn’t Ashita no Joe, just celebrating the anniversary and honoring the series (I do hope we get more stuff that’s actually Joe related tho, maybe an original side story taking place during the original, or maybe an OVA about Rikishi, something). As for this specific episode, I like it, but my problem is just that a lot of this episode is stuff we’ve seen, from trailers and things like that, so I totally agree that this should’ve premiered with 2 episodes.

Did "Rikiishi" make the one minute KO announcement? I feel like legendary scenes like this should be recreated.

To be honest, it all feels like an attempt to milk a classic gem without even putting some effort into doing so, just slapping the name of it in there to turn heads.

Always a good sign when you’re one complaint is that there wasn’t a second episode attached to it. I think this ep was set up very well, and the strongest component that you didn’t mention is the sound design which feels integral to this atmosphere.

I think it’s a little unreasonable to expect the same approach to the music, I think JD whistling would’ve been a bit too on the nose, and trumpets would’ve clashed with the modern sensibilities of the setting. And it’s only episode 1, we can’t say for sure if say, the track that plays on the bridge is Yuri’s theme, or the track at the start of the episode is supposed to be JD’s track etc. As a matter of fact, you can get a hint of this in each of the character PVs on TBS’s YouTube channel, each one uses different music. Also I’ll be honest you came off a bit condescending and abrasive here, the bit about what to call AnJ in English was an irritating non sequitur. But I’m happy there’s an anituber like you who’s actually SEEN Joe covering this, I’ll be holding off my piece on it for when it finishes.

This anime is gonna 13 episodes right ? I watched the original and half of the show felt filler .Jump dog feels like a delinquent shonen character though

Watched it and enjoyed it enough i want to see more episodes. It was much better than doing a full remake of a classic masterpiece.

Speaking of the Joe movie, how does the lost English dub sound? And if possible, could you upload a short clip from it onto Twitter?

Would there be a possibility of a Megalo Box sequel, since it will only have 13 episode’s and I don’t know if there will be enough space for character development etc.
