Kirito Had To Actually Work For Something | Sword Art Online Alicization Episode 4
Ever since Season 1 of Sword Art Online Kirito has been handed everything. In the light novels it wasn’t so easy, but I’m glad to see Kirito struggle to earn something in Sword Art Online Alicization Episode 4! Now that the prologue is done we can begin the main story. Ready for Sword Art Online Season 3 Episode 5 Review?

I started watching it, because you’ve been reviewing it, but I haven’t been watching the reviews. I’m not upset about it. It’s starting like the first season; hopefully it doesn’t become a forced romance harem again after the first few eps.

"First time Kirito had to work for something."
Suuure…
I mean it’s not like he almost died at the Ilfang fight and only together with Asuna who ALSO almost got chopped in half did he manage to save that bunch of noobs from getting wiped. Or in the Gleam Eyes fight it totally took no effort to beat it it’s not like he was pushing his limit and only surviving on 1 HP… oh no… those took no effort he just whipped out his sword and deleted them with a casual swing.
It’s not even like that whole Kirito being shocked by his own blood and the Eugeo part were recycles of Sugo attacking him IRL and Diavel dying in the beginning!
Kirito always winning with no effort and having no development is just BS spread by people who bash on the show for clicks and the sheep repeating their every word.

the movie had a better "he works for it".eugeo worked more for his victory than kirito did if i am honest. it took him multiple months getting the sword,he almost gave his life fighting and we even have a trainingmontage at the end

As an anime only I’ve always liked SAO. Despite not doing the whole 100 floors like oh so many people wanted SAO to be and cheesing it with Heathcliff. Despite how rapey it got in the second half of season 1 with Alfheim. And even despite how SAO II was a complete and udder joke as it basically drove away from WOW and towards COD and using surviving Laughing Coffin members as the key villains. Despite EVERYTHING it threw at me I stuck through with it because deep down even just as anime only I recognized that the show was going somewhere deeper than being stuck in a game as Kirito had that insightful talk with Heathcliff at the collapse of SAO. It was because I saw the potential it was reaching for that I liked SAO thick and thin and it wasn’t until Ordinal Scale that I really saw this come to light with its surprise ending. And now after all of that we’re at SAO Alicization I LOVE SAO. This season so far feels so different than everything else that I honestly feel like it can be the saving grace for a lot of people who gave up on it years ago. I even dare to say I don’t even really recognize this new season because that’s how different it is, but in a very good way.
For starters The first thing I noticed was how scared he was, for once we were seeing Raw Kirito, not Beater Jesus-kun, as far I know that guy fucking died the moment that sword sliced through his arm like butter, It was very much like the scene from 300 when Leonardis throws the spear at the Persian fucker and i love that.
Now as for animation and art holy shit sticks on a sunny July day. You compared it to Hunter x Hunter but for me that moment when he was slicing through Goblins as the camera pans around very much reminded me of MHA and you know what I mean if you compare manga to anime and it’s those little extra things they do to enhance the seen like when Deku hit Muscular with 1000000% and the camera pans across Muscular’s fibers as if the camera itself was the force from the punch. And if we step away from other shows and compare it to past SAO seasons this new animation style especially in fights is next to none. Most of the fights in past seasons were like watching a UFC fight, all the action was just in the foreground and little background work which didn’t put you into the scene at all! I have to say this measly goblin fight was better than Gleaming Eyes which up until now was my favorite fight of the SAO franchise.
Now as for this exploration of AI is where I pull back the praise a bit. I respect and understand why you find it fascinating because it most certainly is, but to me it’s not really something new as they have been doing with yui since season 1, from the moment she intervened to save Asuna and Kirito we’ve been introduced to this idea of AI grasping at free will and doing what THEY want to do and what they feel is right. Which like I said is fascinating, I played Detroit Become Human and loved it, but I’m just not as excited for it as you seem to be because of it already already preexisting within the show.
Anyways that’s my take away from this season and episode 4 specifically sorry if that was too long for some of you to care, but hey I wasn’t the sucker who sat through reading the essay of some dipshit on the internet. For those of you that did like it or wanna debate some of my view points feel free I enjoy constructive criticism! 😀

I’m hoping the community as a whole starts giving SAO a chance again instead of just hating cause SAO. Alicization has been amazing so far, I did read a bit of the light novel but for the most part I’m anime only.

It seems to me that some people really misunderstand Kirito. Yes he is strong but he constantly worked in order to become like that so saying that he got everything handed without any effort is wrong.

Anime only will never understand how much this Arc step up the game (no pun intended), ANIME ONLY WILL NEVER UNDERSTAND, since anime only are lazy to read, saying "it’s boring to read!"
Read the Light Novel first, then fight me.

Could you review the new ongoing manga “Kuro no Maou.” There’s only one chapter so far, but it looks very interesting, and I think you would like it. If you don’t take recommendations, that’s fine, you can ignore my comment then.

Ill say this now. The first 20 episodes will be the most decisive for how people judge this show based on its previous seasons. The previous seasons has given many a bad taste when anyone mentions SAO. If this series manages to have such a reasonable standard of quality then SAO will be somewhat redeemed. Thats the main reason I have stuck with this series, I always had hope that the anime would pick up and be considered in a wide sense "good" without 10 different people coming out of nowhere to say my taste in anime is shit. But thats just my opinion anyway.

Sword art online was pretty mucn my first anime (well not my first anime but you know, your first anime when u find out what anime is) and I loved it because I didn’t know any better and now that I realized how awful it was I never really came back to it (stopped at gungale) I might just come back to it, if not even for the fact that it "got good" but just that I can get some nostalgia without feeling like im wasting my time watching a shitty anime

Speaking of that huge Demon-Tree? I had never laughed out so loudly until Kirito did so much damage to that god damn thing, because if you realise that he actually did as much damage with one hit as all other woodcutters in 300 years, you’re gonna feel bad for the damn woodcutters.

The fight scene was still stupid, huge chunk of metal vs a sharp but small piece of metal… yet can still beat someone 4-5 times his size…

Nothing too surprising rlly tbh, yeah he did have a struggle but for the most part he did a good enough job to still be standard Kirito. Not shitting tho, just that I figured it’d turn out like this. I am still hyped for this season so far, if i had to say. The tree falling was more surprising than the fight lmao.
