I really think the scenes that Miller and Vasago brain dead are the best part of this episode. I just keep repeat to watch this part, looks scary but amazing at the same time, they deserve that. They are too evil and crazy and should not be allowed to exist in human history. Those people 100% deserve that horrible, worst possible death, and continue to be punished by the wrong souls in the world after death.

It’s not clear in the light novel either. My personal opinion is always that somehow, the 200 years trapped as a tree reflected itself in the real world and his body ended up decaying into dust because the STL made the effects of the tree existence transfer to his real body so there was nothing left for the mercs to recover.

Next episode should show what happened to Kayaba.

It was Vassago. That bastard’s somehow still alive.

If you remember, Vassago’s soul wasn’t killed by Kirito like he did to Gabriel (shattered by overloading his fluctlight with memories and emotions), he only imprisoned it in the Underworld. He also said as long as he (in tree form) is not cut down, he will not be able to log out from the Underworld. Additionally, Vassago now is deprived of his sensory abilities (because he is a tree), so theoretically, his memory capacity would not overload like Higa said because there is little to no memory to record, but Vassago will definitely become even more crazy (imagine spending like 100-200 years in sensory deprivation).
So, theoretically, Vassago could be still alive and logged out of the underworld as long as he was cut down as a tree (0hp = log out). But, as for his status in the real world, nobody knows.
I can even tell that there is nothing in the novel that is tells us what happened to Vassago and his body.

Yeah Moon Cradle wouldn’t fit at all. It’s two novels long, it’s longer than the Fairy Dance arc. Imagine that getting covered in two episodes.

    Oh no no no.

You’re not over thinking it is Vassago lool
They wouldn’t recover Yanai’s body they have no obligation to, not part of the military or american so they left him there.

This episode was actually really good, but I don’t think they’re going to animate the Moon Cradle arc. I bet so many SAO episode analysis channels are gonna start hating like crazy. That’s the first thing most of them do, if it isn’t like the light novel they complain. Well, that’s understandable, yeah, but taking liberties in anime adaptations aren’t that strange so they should at least see a couple changes coming.

yeah akhiko is retrieved by vassago but it’s not mentioned clearly in novel and i think this may be prologue to another arc.. and there is more to it but i just can’t spoil… and also kirito and asuna living together in underworld will come just after war of underworld arc… like when they will return to modern world but underworld will progress to like more than 200 years.. so the volume 19 which is after alicization lasting arc(final arc of alicization) is when kirito and asuna are gonna return to underworld with alice maybe we don’t know yet coz vol 19 is not translated so in reality when this season ends LN readers will be just like you…

You should keep in mind that Higa said that they could erase their memories of the time they spent the 200 years in the Underworld (You know, as that would mess them up in the real world. if they can even get out of the Underworld in the first place).

Last week some people were questioning Asuna’s choice, they were like she didn’t know it would be 200 years that’s why she stayed back, otherwise she wouldn’t have stayed and stuff. Hope this episode slapped them right in the face

Again, there’s no such thing akihiko or Alice traps inside fucking robot.
First the pregnant woman in underworld (non logic).
Second all human soul will trap in underworld for 200 years??
Third 2 villains are dead (logic)
And 4th akihiko is still alive inside fucking robot??

And also what are they going to do with Asuna and kirito’s body and trapped in underworld for 200 years? Bury them?

Anybody noticed the changes to Gabriel and kirito in the opening? Also, Bring is the bald guy in case anybody was confused. The first thing that comes to everybody’s mind is that Vassago is alive and he probably took Niemon (the robot) away. Im a bit suspicious though, I doubt the anime will make it that obvious but we shall see.
