Dragon Ball Z: Budokai, released as Dragon Ball Z (ドラゴンボールZ, Doragon Bōru Zetto) in Japan, is a fighting video game developed by Dimps and published by Atari. It was released for the PlayStation 2 in December 2002 in North America and for the Nintendo GameCube in North America on October 2003. The game was released in Japan by Bandai on the PlayStation 2 in February 13, 2003, while the Nintendo GameCube release was brought out near the end of the year, on November 28, 2003. As the GameCube version was released almost a year after the PlayStation 2 version, the opportunity was taken to improve the graphics using cel-shading. The game is re-rendered in HD in the 2012 video game Dragon Ball Z: Budokai HD Collection for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, though anything outside of battle gameplay is displayed in 4:3 instead of 16:9.

I actually like the new sound track, it gives an old school game a more modern vibe (modern being the sources a lot of the music came from were a lot newer than the original music, but "old school" by today’s standards, I know). I plan on getting the 360 bundle soon. I actually own This one and 3 on my PS2. So, I look at it this way, if I want to play with updated graphics, gain achievements, and listen to a more modern sound track, I’ll play this one. If I want to re-live the nostalgia of old school graphics, the original sound track, and PlayStation style controls, I’ll fire up my PS2. Best of both worlds, man. Thanks for putting these up 🙂
