Yup. Though I won’t go as far as saying it sucks since I will never be able to write a story that commands such a large fan base, but it didn’t do it for me.

I followed the hype and started to watch this show. I couldn’t continue after I think episode 6. So I cannot say I know all about this show to voice a proper opinion.

However, when L puts together a task force to catch an obviously clever and notorious killer and states that the killer would have to know the name and the face to kill people, and the task force first protest against wearing fake ids. I was done! The show is hyped for being smart, yet they cannot find 7 smarter people than those in all of Japan? Doubtful.

Well, I gave it one more chance until Penbar’s fiancé gives Kira her ID. How could she readily believe the lie that she cannot talk to a policeman after all the precaution she takes giving a false name and all, after being that smart? After having worked for the FBI and not know how to contact the police? Nope! Not convincing at all.

And I stopped right there, because it got pretty boring too with people just talking about what has happened or what strategies or whatever.

But then again, I am biased because I am a supernatural kinda gal, and the only supernatural thing in this show is the method of killing, which is just not supernaturally creative enough to put me in awe. Might as well be just another serial killer show, in which there is not much suspense because we already know who the killer is from the get go. How interesting!

Ok I am done with DN. Have fun with it, DN fans. I am going back to my more fav that is, in my opinion, much more creative.

this anime suck. nothing make sense. fbi in japan, light is smart but kill a fake L passing a the news, L is way to weird to make me bolive that he is a a inspector, police never use the lying detector, light replace L but was the main suspect, plane landing in a canyon in the u.s., and many more stupids scene. this anime is way to overrated and it’s name a masterpiece. the only people love this anime is because Light is a bad guy. what a dump reason. this show is just bad .

The first half of deathnote was an amazing edge of your seat rollercoaster. After you know what happens, I literally never touched the show again. The new characters shoehorned into the second half were uninspired and boring and were the reason I turned it off. It was really pissed cause I really liked the show up until that point

Monster >>> Death Note. However, I respect Death Note. It is one of the few anime which I watched to the end. I think it was a good story even though I didn’t like its protagonist, Light.

I guess people who have problem with 2nd half about , Why L died/lost ,Why Near did it etc etc are those who didnt understand the whole point of the story and plot.
May be the anime is too intelligent or some people here are too dumb.

What parts of Death Note did L “look at the script”? I know what you mean is that L seemed to be taking some leaps of faith, but L and Light always fully explained their plans and how they’re going to work based on the information given to them.

Light’s downfall *was* exactly of his own accord. His god-complex is what led to his connection with Mikami and that’s what led to his demise. Evil being self-destructive is a constant theme in the series. I thought the last episode was pitch perfect tbh.

I love Death Note, It’s my favorite anime. Also I like the ending, and I like Near and Mello. You can judge me all you want for liking Near, Mello, and the ending (especially Light’s death). Although L’s death made me hate everything for a few weeks before I was ready to watch the next episode. By the way, madhouse didn’t make the decision to kill L and Light, all of that stuff happened in the original manga which is why it was adapted into the anime.

I don’t understand the hard-on that everyone has for L. Don’t get me wrong, I love L, he’s a great character, but that’s what’s great about him – his character. Near is very much like L and a great successor. The biggest difference between L and Near is just their looks really: similar mannerisms, same bluntness, same careful analysis, similar way of sitting, etc. imo, this is why Near was the best successor – it feels like L is still fighting Light. The anime makes this pretty obvious too with Light’s constant allusions to L.

I think the show does a lot better if L dies because it results in a big win for Light – Light ends up controlling the Kira task force, it makes catching Kira a lot more difficult.

The end is completely Light’s oversight, not Mikami’s. Light deliberately picked Mikami because, unlike Misa, Light doesn’t need to instruct him. Light WANTED Mikami to act on his own, and this was the mistake. How was Mikami suppose to know that Light had access to a Death Note when previous he had shown signs of immobility (over the phone)? If Light hadn’t hidden a piece of the Death Note in his watch, Mikami’s decision would have been correct from Light’s point of view. Thus, Light relied on Mikami to make decisions on his behalf, and they both thought they were in agreement about that (it was Mikami that killed Sakura TV members and Mikami that picked Kira’s new spokesperson) – it’s only fair to assume that it was Mikami’s job to also kill Takada when the time came.

I just recently rewatched Death Note, and I like the ending. It’s very satisfying precisely because it was such a small oversight on Light’s part. It wouldn’t make sense if Light made a huge oversight, Light is much smarter than that. The only way to beat Light at his own game was to find the smallest detail and exploit it. That’s what made Near’s win so powerful and genius.

I firmly disagree with his comments on why the ending was bad:

    1) Light didn’t win: If you look at the situation after Light’s death, he clearly had some sort of victory. He said it himself, most of the world sees him as justice. If anything he’s become a martyr now, their cause is invigorated and may even grow in popularity after his death.

2). Light didn’t make a mistake that caused his demise:. Flat out misinterpretation here. Light went through the entire show with the belief (that was often backed up) that he could control ANYONE. That ended up being his downfall when his fervent follower acted on his own accord, which is one of the main messages of the show: when humanity tries to attain perfection our own inherent human flaws will instead lead to the downfall.

I feel like a majority of the people who dislike the ending have a problem with taking what they see on screen for face value and not interpreting it in context of the shows morale. Personally, I loved the ending. The show had it’s flaws, but the ending was pretty good in my opinion.

Thank god someone said it. L’s leap of logic completly ruined it for me. Any slightly intelligent person would be able to question his logical fallacies in lack of evidence. To be honest he seems like by accident he got a think for the opposing character.
