What people need to understand is that Deku is only at 8% and he was able to keep up and be on par with Bakugo who’s power is at let say 50 or 60% because he is still young and will get stronger. Think about it Deku at 8% almost beat Bakugo who’s at 50-60% that means if Deku had One for all for the same length of time (from 4yrs old) as Bakugo had his power Deku would have annihilated Bakugo.

I’m not sure if it’s mistranslated… But, when I read the manga, in the line where Bakugou was saying why Deku pissed him off so much, Bakugou doesn’t talk about how "now he always have that face of satisfaction like he actually got better than Deku" but, instead, how "he ALWAYS was carefully analyzing and observing Bakugou, studying how to defeat him…" That creeped Bakugou out, and, defied how Bakugou viewed heroes. Deku, who was a total loser without a quirk, was studying Bakugou like he had an ace in the hole all the time, but he didn’t, except when the exams showed up and Deku suddenly had a quirk, Bakugou must’ve thought that THAT was what gave Deku the confidence to even consider defeating Bakugou, who was both much more talented and was working much harder than Deku during all these years (long before Deku meeting All Might).
