So glad this wasn’t part of the original story. Light tripping out like that just isn’t consistent with how he’s been portrayed. He’s never flipped out like that except for when he’s been losing or been made out like a fool. Whenever he thinks he’s won, he’s always been smug and arrogant, not out of control. It also ruins the idea that Light has a monster lurking just under the surface that’s only truly revealed when Kira is. These aren’t the action of a God, and Light wants to believe himself a righteous diet of justice.
PS: plus the blood spatter of the deaths just felt out of sync with what we’ve seen from the series. I mean do we really need to see somebody’s skull cracked open on the pavement, a train blow somebody to bits, and blood leaking from a car crash?
