it’s not even that it’s an American adaptation to me idc if they were all white at. it’s that it looks really rushed. if it was a tv show and not a movie I would probably be more interested. I mean it’s still using the plot of death note just with an American twist. so how the hell are you going to fit a 50 something episode anime or a 12 or 13, (cant remember the exact number) volume manga into a 1:47 length movie. I can’t see this being anything other than rushed. unless it’s multiple parts. not that interested in most of the casting decisions either.

Berserk is alright. Hunter X Hunter is worse for hiatus and quality though. Kind of shocked that the author keeps derping with the fanbase compared to Miura playing idolmaster.

If only those special effects on Ghost In The Shell was used on something better, not it’s just going to be overshadowed by the original’s godly animation and cinematography, by the trailer it seems to be mostly remaking shitier versions of amazing shots

Jesus you guys are overreacting. This movie is its own story riffing off the original Death Note plot set in what looks to be Seattle in the US. If they wanted it to be a live-action remake they wouldn’t have showed-off a Ferris wheel collapsing in the trailer which never happened in the original story.
Do you really want the same story regurgitated again and again? This is a chance to make a Death Note inspired film in its own unique way.

yeah the action worries me too. What made Death Note work so well it that it was a compelling story told in the form of a battle of minds, the clash of ideologies. I hope the film can also portray that.

It’s an american adaptation, of course it’s not going to have Japanese people in the film. The target audience for the film is american people which is mostly white. Besides when japan does a film adaptation of an american film/show do they hire a bunch of white people to play the characters in the show?…. No they don’t so if people are going to be outraged about this they should also be outraged when japan does the exact same thing!

And he killing police force is dumb. And falling for L schemes is dumb. And not using Misa for "fun" is dumb.

Probably better than japans live action version, but I was very baffled. Everything looks great expect what the fuck is all of that action? There is going to be a cliche romance? Where the fuck is the real star of the show, L? They will probably fucking ruin the tension that hooked everyone… until the original ending and second season, there is nothing to ruin.

I don’t really care about the death note netflix show. I might watch it depending on how people like it. I’m definitely excited about Berserk though its been like 5 months I can’t wait to see what happens. I also picked up some shirts from the link bob They had some great stuff on sale. The change of race is worth it for L. Keith Stanfield is just perfect for this role if you’ve seen his work in Atlanta. And I have faith in this with Adam Wingard directing and Netflix behind it. Could be the best live action anime adaptation of all time
