in the manga there a eraser that if you right down the name you can eraser the name to stop the death or I think you can bring back someone back to life the creator of death note left this out in the anime to make it feel more real life consequences so no back track like what’s been done its down can`t take it back what you done type of thing anyway like you guys I know who guys were to get emotional at L DEATH when I first watch it I had tears but more for me at the end of this show anyway love you ^_- peace be with you

The flash backs is reference to when people are dying/about to die and they start remebering ther past.
The bell ringing and L being the only one to hear it a reference to being called (you hear your death coming). People on their final moments have reported to hear a bell ringing.

This episode was filled with christian imagery. There is the reference to a church tower tolling its bells for funerals. There is the scene of L washing Light’s feet, the way Jesus did to Judas despite knowing that Judas will betray him. So that zeroes in to the fact that L did know that Light will kill him soon. I’m not a religious person at all, but the reference is spot on because there is a reason why people call traitors Judas. And then there is the huge cross at the end before Light declares himself God.
I suppose the God metaphor has been going on from the start. And christian imagery is the only real choice as there is no other monotheistic religions in Japan. I suppose there’s buddhism, but the passing of judgment thing doesn’t work well with buddhism. Shintoism is also a no go as it is polytheistic.
