   SAO is soo controversial. In my anime forum SAO was placed 2nd on the best anime of the year voting, but also placed first at the "flop of the year".

   yes finally some descent recognition for SAO!!!

   Apparently the story is too intricate and perfect for most Americans to comprehend.
   I’m an American and i loved it, its one of my favorite anime.

   I’m sick and tired of people saying it sucks and its the worst anime ever. so suck it!!!

   SAO is like the twilight of anime… people either love it hate it because its shallow and superficial, or love it because its…. shallow and superficial!

   Not everyone wants too watch something deep and complex

   Bitch please, story sucked. Too many timeskips, no character development, yes they’ve had 2 years to get to know each other, but for us the viewers, where can we see the development? No where. Yes action+animation was great, 1st episode was a blast and it went down to shit after episode 2. Therefore, SAO sucked with characters and plot, especially timeskips, but animation and action was brilliant

    Personally, I agree with you! Big plot holes can bug me and they can kind of cheat the viewer. I didn’t think SAO was that great, but it wasn’t terrible.

    But some people really don’t care about that & enjoy the massive fight scenes and great art and ”get took along for the ride” without thinking too much about it.

    If they think SAO’s amazing then let them!

    I’m not saying U r, but there seem too be many ”elitist” anime fans who look down upon others just because they have differing tastes.

    its not the people who say they don’t like it that get me going
    its the people who say is complete and utter shit and should have never been made and no one should watch it that get me pissed.

    while it was coming out i was hooked. and sure it started going down hill at episode 15 on but still it was good.

    hmm, I think the dislike for SAO comes more for how much they butchered up the novels (at least not so terrible like what they did with Zero no Tsukaima. Really, making the Pope a heroic good guy who sacrifices himself for the team? yeah right), and how terrible the direction is and what they decided to remove and show
    which is made worst by just how bad the early novels are in comparison of the last 1/5 of the novels.

    I don’t ask for my shows to be all that deep and complex, I love shows like Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure and Gurren Lagann.
    I just ask my shows to make sense – if Kirito has an ultimate super comet attack that kills all enemies and gets him straight to the top of the tower – at least explain why it took him two attempts and a massive fight scene before he done that, why didn’t he just do that in the first place?

    SAO didn’t suck, but it was way overhyped and both over- and underrated at the same time. This was a prime example of forums at their worst. Too many people were skewed by popular opinion. It was a decent show, it wasn’t the best of the year, and it was nowhere near the worst of the year. It was about a 7.5-8/10 imo, and still in the top 10 of the year. Season 1 was top 5, while season 2 was top 15.
