just watch it with an open mind and don’t pay attention to any comments, be they positive or negative, there are a lot of neutrals that see both the good and the bad of SAO but they know that there are a lot of misconceptions and untruthful and unnecessary hate towards the series

sao is a rollercoaster its grot great moments and … it can get bad at times its hit or miss i used to like not much anymore but its was one of the first anime ive seen like first 5 or 6 and it introduced me to isekai but overall would i rewatch no not really

The biggest misconception people have when watching the openings but not the show is that Alicization and War of Underworld takes place in a game world. Alicization bumped the shows’ rating up to TV-MA because people don’t fizzle out when they die. A body gets decapitated, or bisected, you see all the gore in it’s glory. There’s a bit more to why it’s more mature but it’s spoilers. Lol

SAO isn’t as divisive as it seems to be. Typical arguments say no character development and what not, which is not true an any way shape or for which tells you that there is another reason people give it hate. Of course people are always gonna hate popular stuff but it’s not the same with other such anime like attack on Titan. My best theory is that the popular reach of the show outside of the anime community mixed with the fact that the story is a lot more western than most anime, people get mad that it ends up being a lot of peoples intriduction to anime since it’s different from a lot of the stuff they watch

I can promise you those guys that hate this show, haven’t watch the third season yet because it’s amazing and if they watch it they will change their mind
Actually in the first season Reki Kawahara (the writer) wasn’t a writer and it was his first light novel but also in that year, it became one of the most popular ones. And after all of these things in season 3 we can see how he shows his talent.

I will say, SAO is one of my favorite animes. I absolutely love the soundtracks, the animations, and the story of it. Theres gonna be a lot of people who tell you the show is bad but I’d say it’s something you just gotta watch and see for yourself. There are some weaker episodes in the show but all shows have those. I’d say SAO Alicization can be a tad confusing with the translation from japanese to english and the fact that it’s adapted from a manga but there is a youtube channel that has in depth explanations about each episode and how it was adapted from manga to anime, what was cut, and what was changed. That being said, the first few seasons are fairly straightforward and I’d definitly recommend checking out SAO.

Sao might have a lot of flaws but i love it, its one of the anime that got me into anime when i was younger.. and it really deserves a watch if you ask me.. like you might not enjoy the plot but the fight scene in sao looks so cool (and yes the animation is really like how you see it in the op)

Aincrad is arc 1
Fairy dance is arc 2
Phantom bullet is 3
Mothers rossario is 4 but its actualy classed as a side story in the books so its a side story arc
Then their was some not animated side stories
Then the movie ordinal scale
And lastly is arc 4 alicization which is prounced like alice alice in wonderland alice the name

the reason sao gets flack is if broken down and read rest first before dislike or argue its like how twilight was to romance
Its a show that unapolageticly hits all the tropes
Like twilight hit every romance trope it put off none romance fans
Sao is unapologeticly a issakai op protaganist , girls love him , kind of an awkward charactef its unapolageticly a issekai anime So for anime fans who been around ages and want those inovative new shows sao becomes a let down but if u enjoy shows even if they stick to their genres tropes like just unapolageticly like a genre even if isnt super invating then yhe shows great its a good issakei but it falls into what some purist anime fans call issakai trash

Sao is VRMMO genre not isekai since its not an actual “other world” but a virtual one. It could be called a pseudo-isekai and ive read some stories where the virtual world turns out too be a real parallel universe or stories where the game world becomes a real alternate universe but Sao is not one of them.
