Bloody Hell Oo Impressive! The most dangerous thing he does is this ‘I drive ten times over your corpse’ thing in the second round. Ansem destroyed so many souls, and you just first tried him 😂 Congrats 🎊🥳🎊 The difficulty there is that this is also attack and defense. He doesn’t do it if you stay near to him, and Ansem tries of course to keep the distance. What makes him (usually) raging all the time. About his Submit move, his guardian kinda fuses with you, and you had to freeze at the question marks to make him hold instead of knock you. And of course to stand far enough away to not get roasted by Ansem^^ This was a great fight!

Reason Mickey only shows up in the end is because Disney wasnt entirely sure this game would be successful. So they didn’t want their mascot’s rep tarnished by being in it (Seriously, they can be super paranoid protective of their IPs) Thankfully KH was a hit and Disney eased up after this and we get more Mickey.

First try Ansem is not easy; nice work! Don’t worry about understanding things because sometimes it seems the director himself doesn’t know what’s going on in this franchise.
I enjoy Chain of Memories gameplay because of how unique it is, even if some parts are tedious. Even still, CoM is a fun interlude before KH2.

I’ve never seen someone train to such a high level before Ansem in this game on their first playthrough. You really prepared well. You handled the fight in the purplish area much better than I did my first time, that’s for sure. I appreciate your tears for Riku. I’m glad you decided to power through and ended up enjoying this game, too.
The end, when Kairi sees the drawing of Sora giving her a paopu, and draws herself giving him a bigger one, wrecks me emotionally every time in the best way. I’m glad this game still has enough life 20 years later that people are still experiencing it for the first time and enjoying it.

Glad to hear you are gonna try Chain of Memories, I trully belive it’s worth it. Just a heads up, and I probably don’t really have to say it, but pay attention to the tutorials. It’s really sad to see people mash through the instructions, get confused about how the game works and giving up on it.
Oh, and by the way, the original Kingdom Hearts version only had 10 Ansem Reports, the others were added in the final mix version.

The Kingdom Hearts games are known for their secret ending. Usually you unlock them in higher dificulties after completing some things like “find all the reports” and things like that. You should check the secret ending on youtube. if not on a reaction video at least on your own time. For Kingdom Hearts 1 there are 2. One of them is an extended version of the other.

I loved your playthrough, and the item thing I believe that was due to the limitationd of the hardware and software used, this game is from 2002 after all. Buuut I’ll tell you a good new, that they’ve resolved the issue already, I don’t remember in which game they made the change (I believe is either KH2 or Birth by sleep) but they made it.
Also, about Chain of Memories, the system gets a little bit to get used to it, I’d say to play 2 of your regular videos to try to get used to the combat system, I can give you some tips to make your gameplay easier, the game has some really cool things that you’ll have more fun playing yourself and obviously the story also hits you harder if you do it yourself. But I’ll also understand if you just watch the story

Honestly, I have enjoyed your playthrough so much, it made me happy watching someone slowly fall in love with this game the same way I did when I first played it! :’3

I have to admit these bosses where not as enjoyable for me to watch because you where overleveld and killed them way to easy. I did however love your reaction to the ending, and your genuine emotions to story telling in games in general. I look foreward to your next adventure!

What an awesome ending to the series, congrats on beating Ansem in one try, not many people could do that. I’m really looking forward to the next games and in the mean time I’m going to rewatch it all over again

Oh boy, your KH Playthrough was magical XD i LOVED IT!
And one thing: Something that i think it would be pretty neat, you can search on youtube some ( Non-Copyrighted ) Covers made by Fans, that maybe you can use it on the future games when there is a Copyrighted song on a Cutscene, i think it’s a lot better than watching the cutscenes with no song at all! But do as you prefer <3 ( Maaan i cried so much at that ending, i forgot how emotional it was )

Excited to see you play CoM! I like a lot this one, the same way KH1 gameplay was challenging at the beginning but gets better as you progress, so is KH CoM

You did it!! You killed Billy Zane– I mean, Ansem: Seeker of Darkness, and saw the ending that makes me cry to this day :’). I’m so glad to have found your channel and saw your journey from the beginning of this game ♥
As for Chain of Memories, it really is a “love it or hate it” kind of game, it’ll depend on how much you end up clicking with the gameplay. I couldn’t lmao and I tried playing it 5 times already so I stick to watching the cutscenes on youtube. Either way, I’ll still be here to support your journey!

Fun fact: Ansem is voiced by Billy Zane who played Rose’s fiance from Titanic and Sora is voiced by the kid who says “I See Dead People” from the sixth sense

Also if you’re not feeling Chain of memories card base battle system you can just watch the game on YouTube so you can know what happens with the story so you can you can understand KHII and watch the other in-between games like 358/2 Days, Birth By Sleep, Re:Coded, Dream Drop Distance and then play Fragmentary Passage which leads to Kingdom Hearts III

Well, it’s done! I love your ending reaction, it’s so sweet (but I was afraid you would have a heart attack during the battle, seriously 😂). You were absolutely great! I started to follow your channel because of KH, but your videos kept me company during this difficult period and I kept to follow your channel for your videogames’s passion, not only for a simple playthrough. Obviously I will keep on waiting your next journey with Sora (CoM and every other games you will play). I knew you’d like this game, I’m so glad that you gave it a second chance.
You always thanks everybody in your videos but, at the end of this playthrough, I feel like I am the one that has to thank you: for the playthrough, the weird videos, the laughs, the rages, the tears and for all the rest. I love how you stopped his rush attack in his 2nd phase.
When you confused and the Guardian was gripping you, the Freeze command came up sometime instead of Attack and that stops them attacking you.

The ending makes me cry every time ;v;
There’s a whole lot more of KH to go through <3 As well as a few 'optional bosses' in KH1 that you may haven't seen yet besides Sephiroth, but none are really important to the story moving forward - they're just "there".

The gameplay of Chain of Memories is VERY different and some consider the gameplay to be the worst in the series (which is false: Days and Coded have much worse gameplay due to lacking any sort of depth), but you can get used to it. To give you somewhat of an idea without being too spoileriffic, it is very similar to The Wonderful 101 and/or Golden Sun, in the sense that the game drops you into a system unlike ANYTHING you’ve seen before, and it gives you a tutorial of the basics, but it doesn’t neccessarily teach you the little intricacies of that system, and it throws enemies and bosses at you, and in turns FORCES you to learn it, as the only way to beat them is by mastering that system. Many players, including myself, will start the game super confused, but as you progress through it, you learn more and more about it, and eventually you reach a point where you can see EXACTLY what you did wrong and how/why you died.
THAT BEING SAID, this also means it requires not only a bit of thinking, but also the ability to think *quickly,* and unlike the mainline Kingdom Hearts games (1, 2 and 3), you can’t just equip every ability you can *because* you can, because what works for one battle might not work for another battle. Sometimes you have to strategize ahead of time.
The story is also well paced, starting slow, but as the stakes rise, the speed at which the story progresses also rises, which is how any good story should go.

Dont know if any comment told ya, but the attack you “werent understanding” that the guardian grabbed you was:
When he “poisons” you with dark, everytime there is the “?” Above your head, your “attack” command in the menu becomes “Freeze”
So in a way you were grabbing yourself for smashing the attack button xd

Would have loved to see your reaction to some additional stuff like the rest of the Hades Cup or the Winnie Pooh world (you were like 1 step away from finishing this), but its your playthrough of course.. so I am fine with you moving forward.
This is now the second full playthrough I watched of this game. Found you one day I was laying all day in bed because I got sick. So thanks for entertaining me during that time^^
Can I perhaps recommend you a channel that played through this game if you ever wanted to watch one yourself? The one I watched is so different from your playstyle, so it would be very interesting to watch. Those guys started playing through the whole franchise before KH 3 came out. There is like an 8 min highlight video of their KH 1 playthrough I would like to send you the link of, so you could decide if you vibe with their humour or not. To me personally its an absolute feelgood channel.
I am guessing you will not like Chain of Memories. They did love it, so you could maybe at a later point (if you are interested) see why some might enjoy it.

I loved seeing how emotional you got at the ending because I cried my eyes out the first time I played it when it first came out. I’m sure you’ve figured it out, but Destiny Island was reformed and Kairi went back but Sora stayed behind so he could help save Riku and Mickey.

Edit: Also, will you be doing an episode where you read all of the ansem reports since you missed some and react to the secret movie of this game? Would be really cool if you did, will give you lots of questions but really intriguing questions that will pull you into thinking more on the lore.

Trivia: It’s been confirmed through the KH1 Ultimania (a Japan exclusive lore book. All KH games have one) released back in the day that the disembodied voice Sora and Riku heard instructing and/or communicating with them at various points in the game was King Mickey.
If you’re unsure what I’m referring to then examples include the disembodied voice that guided Sora through his dream (“or was it a dream?” he said sounding unsure) at the beginning with the stained glass platforms, when the name “Keyblade” reverberated through Sora’s head after receiving it, Riku as he wandered the Dark after losing his body, and the voice that warned Sora to rest before entering that final door (the game’s point of no return).
