Johnny vs. Dragon Ball Z: Budokai
Time for some Dragon Ball action; this is a review I’ve been meaning to do after finishing up Batman: Arkham Asylum, but I didn’t have enough time to finish it up before moving on to other projects.
Since I’m quite a huge Dragon Ball Z fan, I figured I’d look into the game that started making Dragon Ball fighting games good. Released for the Playstation 2 in 2002, Dragon Ball Z: Budokai takes all of your favorite Z fighters from the Saiyan Saga up to the Cell Games and pit them against each other in some fast-paced 2D fighting. Is it good? Should you waste your time? Let’s find out.
I decided to look at only the first game this time, because I feel Budokai 2 and 3 deserve a separate review.

I know this is a six year old video that you’ll never read these comments but….Dragon Ball has a lot of fighting in it. A lot of the DBZ clichés started in Dragon Ball.

Am I the only one who actually likes DBZ for the story and characters? Yeah the action was great too but I really liked the story. The only thing I didn’t like, and man I hated it, was….

The fact that freaking Goku was the one to finish Buu. After Buu survived Vegeta’s amazing suicide attack, after the elder Kai training, I was convinced Gohan would be the one to finally defeat Buu. It was the perfect way to finish the story of Z and pass the torch to Gohan. But NOPE, nerdy bitch Gohan gets eaten like the rest. Then we get Vegitto. And nope. Just plain old Goku, the John Cena of Dragonball, wins again. THAT sucked.
