I only don’t agree with Grimgar, but that’s my opinion. Just finished season 2 of King’s Avatar and should say its really good, no troubles even watching at work. Too sad that my boy Ikki wont be getting a second season, but the hope dies last.
If you are looking for other Chinese anime with magic I recommend Quanzhi Fashi, my boy Mo Fan is real badass.

As someone who watched all of these, I guarantee these anime are better. It’s not a biased opinion coz I genuinely like Sao as it is the anime that I watched knowing its an anime. But these five are superior
Grimgar: art and realism
Danmachi: character development

This must be better than SAO? I highly doubt it. Most of the animes here have just around 12 short episodes, thats around a fun of 4 hours. SAO have 100+, if not many many more episodes.
Maybe they are good for weekend but definitely not for the whole time.

If u havnt seen death March onto a parallel universe u should . Very well written . Also soul land is a subtitled Chinese anime with a great storyline even though the episodes are shorter than what I’d call normal .China actually has quite a few cultivation type isekai type that are very good . My only dislike is shorter episode length .
