You should have mentioned with Pep/Pep Powers that waiting until one of the characters you wanna use the Pep Power with is blinking before using the Power, that way you don’t waste the extra stat boosts from being in Pep

i think theres something you should cover that you didnt. i quit the game and threw it in the trash because dungeons are terrible. it feels like you cant finish dungeons in 1 run and that feels absolutely awful.

The rabbit enemies found everywhere near the start have a very rare chance at dropping bunny tails. Once you find one, equip it and your chance of dropping more bunny tails increases. Once all 8 (with 4 characters) of your active character’s accessory slots are full of bunny tails enemies will drop loot constantly. Rare weapons & equipment, stat seeds, rare materials & curatives. (this can be time consuming initially. Try the hill path between the first campsite and the river for higher frequency of larger bunny encounters)
I spent a lot of time having erik steal with full thief boosting gear/stats/skills… Absolute waste of time. Just wipe enemies out for fast XP, gold and item drops. You may need erik’s picpocket skill to access the ‘hallelujah’ pep power (not certain) this is another way to get guaranteed ‘very rare’ drops from enemies constantly.
The bunny tail method is a must if you like having the resources to build new high end equipment as soon as you find the alchemy recipe… Or better yet, just loot those weapons & items from enemies early.
Hint- When you reach a new area, open your menu>misc> defeated monsters>nearby monsters. You can check who drops what & get some nice gear while being aware of enemies that drop nothing useful.

Also, starting weapons (not to be sold) reworked to +3 are generally better then the next 1-3 weapons available.

unless you are playing with hard mode modifiers turned on, there is no reason you should ever die in this game.

Tip: Each character has an inventory.. if they dont have healing items in their inventory, they cant use them. Found this out the hard way, distribute your consumables!

Thanks for this! Been playing it and really enjoying it so far. I didn’t get into earlier DQ games but I did love VIII on PS2. So far its amazing. The cafting is fun too

Every review so far has said “be sure to check everywhere” but tbh 8 hrs in and, yea there are the occasional box and or pot to brake but the reward has never justified the time spent looking. 99% of the scenery is just that. Scenery. Most homes/buildings turn out to have absolutely nothing in them other than beautiful plate setting.
