   Couple things that aren’t directly stated.

   Shinji is exactly 14
   The Evangelions are super powerful but the fights are meant to be horrific not cool. Remember a 14 year old is inside that thing.

   It’s great and essential that you are thinking a bit further past the actual plot into the feelings and motives of the characters, that bit of empathy and perspective will make this show much more intriguing as the show continues.

    Glad you enjoyed the first two episodes. The animation for the most part stands the test of time, and the action scenes are very well choreographed. Also, I think as someone who’s seen more anime (esp shounen) I’m glad you can appreciate an MC who is more apprehensive about just going out and saving the world. Please watch the End of Evangelion movie after the anime tho ?
