The Sword Art Online Ordinal Scale Movie was announced a while back in 2016! A1 Studio has been hard as work with this new SAO Movie Project.
Sword Art Online Ordinal Scale has Kirito, Asuna, Sinon and the rest of the SAO cast playing the Augmented Reality (AR) game Ordinal Scale.

The amount of episodes in one season has changed.
The character design has changed.
This new director was also a director for an.. eh.. anime series.
I don’t know, I feel like I’m worrying too much, mainly because Sword Art Online 1 & 2 created a feeling for an anime that I find it hard to replicate. In my opinion, I’d say that SAO would only be SAO with Tomohiko Ito, but it’s always good to give the director a chance.

I have a theory of why he stepped down… he’s built his own image of how to interpret the characters of SAO, but the way they’re played out in Alicization are completely different. Kirito from previous seasons is portrayed very seldomly, and the Kirito we have in the majority the arc is vastly different. Not to mention how big a scale this is in comparison, perhaps he just felt that he couldn’t adapt everything he’s built to essentially a new story

I really don’t want them to add new characters i liked it the way it was (my opinion) i wanted them to talk about Kirito’s parents i don’t like how eugeo looks like Kirito its annoying i will probably if he was Kirito’s long last brother but if he isnt then i don’t like this change 🙁 T^T

I’m not worried, after all the director has already made amazing anime’s and we still have the same character designer even though there are slight changes. It shouldn’t be hard to make SAO S3 as it is, "The best part of the SAO Manga."

I’m excited for the new series but i do not like the new art season 2 got used to but the art for the promo for season 3 look very bad an reminds me of when they went from Pokemon XYZ series to Sun and Moon, huge step back. i hope that this is just an early look an not the final choose they can do better then season 1 an 2 but hold off so it doesn’t look as over the top as the movie, which i loved all 3 of those art work styles for a Japanese Anime that has this much Adult like feel to it going back to the a Childish style will wreck the series. But if what you say is true about the team all staying except the leader of the project i have confidence that this is just something to have people think is going to be, then they will come out with the real art work which will take us by surprise an blow are minds away an make us excited for the show. Plus 60+ episodes that’s what i’m looking forward to if they pull off as much story telling in just 24 to 25 episode i cant imagine what they could do with 60+ i’m looking forward to it 1 way or another. An if i can relate to any Character it would be Kirito. hes a Lone wolf who finds his way an makes new friends an isn’t afraid to stand up for what he believes in. he an Asuna. are my 2 favorite characters an i would like to see more of them in scenes working together to show nothing can pull them apart an how there affection for each other inspires there friends to come closer together to maybe find each other that would be cool. i also love how all these arc go back to SAO incident. it would be cool to also see everyone get trick to get stuck back in the SAO game like season 1 with a new plot and twist, making it something like the SAO 2 incident or SAO Ripple Incident. That’s just my thoughts of what I would like to see.
