I don’t blame you for not remembering but Marlowe was in season 1 and 2 as well. Towards the end of season 1 he was the guy in Annie’s group who tried to discourage his superiors from their immoral behavior and in the first episode of season 2 he and Hitch were taking about how there wasn’t an official reason given for why all the victims of the Eren/Annie fight died.

So is no one gonna talk about Keith receiving Ls left and right? He meets someone random dude with some with amnesia that boosts his spirits but gets with this man’s crush. The dude spirit gets crushed as he suffers more losses against the titans. Grisha marries Carla, and Keith is still losing against titans. And the icing on the cake, Carla has Eren, and he couldn’t even succeed at having Eren fail the 3D maneuver gear test.

Hitch is worried about Marlowe’s safety (the bowl cut) that he joining Survey Corps.
She said bad thing to him so that he might reconsider it or something.
It’s understandable, since so far there’s only deaths in Survey "Corpse".
But Marlowe didn’t aware of Hitch real motive behind her words, that she actually cares about him.
Just like Eren don’t realize that Mikasa likes him.
