SAO was pretty good.
Until season 2. It got so cringey, I dropped it. I dunno if it got better after.
But the first season alone was enjoyable.

I’d say this is one of this shows you have to watch and make your own opinions on it.
I personally love the show and totally recommend it.
From my experience, the first core of season 1 is excellent, the second half is a bit controversial and lackluster unfortunately.
Season 2 is pretty good.
Alicization and War of Underworld are amazing, can’t praise them enough.
Overall a very enjoyable show but it really depends on the person watching.

when i first watched SAO, i was in my early teens
i REALLY enjoyed it, even cried my eyes out in one of the seasons
but now years later, i recognize that from the perspective of a critical lens, SAO is pretty horrible
but if you can turn your brain off and just enjoy the ride, it’s absolutely an amazing experience in my opinion

In a lot of ways, the Anima OP (WoU OP2) does represent not just the end of the Alicizaiton arc, but a close to everything that preceded it going all the way back to the beginning. As we eventually head into the Unital Ring arc (which Reki Kawahara is still writing the LNs for), the series does kind of start going into a different direction. Of course it still pulls from past content, especially the Alicizaiton arc, but the series really does have a different feel to it starting in Unital Ring, which is why you’re not wrong when you said that that OP has a feeling of finality to it.

the music of this anime so nostalgic!!! i remember start loving anime on 2014, where sao s2 come out. while waiting new episode, i spent most of my time watching sao trailer, concert, interview that time. so much otaku mode during young days, lol
