Alicization takes place after the events of Ordinal Scale in the anime and is based on the Sword Art Online Light Novel series by Reki Kawahara, spanning from Volume 9 of the series up until Volume 18.
Kirito finds himself in a brand new world called Underworld, at a mysterious company called Rath, upon an unfortunate event brought upon him by one of his old adversaries from Aincrad and Gun Gale Online!
Now, he must meet his new allies in this brand new world, in the small town of Rulid Village, in the shadows of Gigas Cedar on the very edge of this realm, with Alice Zuberg and Eugeo!

As a light novel reader, I believe if that A1 Pictures successfully adapts the whole Alicization Arc right then SAO might become the anime we all wanted and it might even become the best season of all time.

Gosh, this is going to be guns a blazin’ when this comes out! Technically its going to be more than 26 episodes for the Alicization arc since its pretty long. Now from my view, I have a feeling there are no Game Overs or other basic RPG elements in it… More of a technical version of a RPG… lol

I am curious, I might actually give this a watch, after skipping on most of ggo arc, from what I heard Alicization is quite a bit better so I have high hopes. Tho I am sure its only a matter of time before the attempted rape is gonna come to add drama o.O

As someone who has very little knowledge on Alicization, I’m personally very excited. I like how you can tell a lot from the visuals like the final few scenes with the syringe but still have questions.
4 years in the making, only 3 months to go! October, here we come!

0:50 the entire trailer was volume 9 (book 1). There were 2 scenes from other books. The scene where Eugeo’s eye turns red is from volume 11 (book 3) and the scene were kirito woke up was not yet adapted in the official translations.

It looks like Aniplex might be taking their time with this arc compared to the other arcs. From what I remember reading somewhere Aniplex wants to ride out alicization as long as they can.
