If you’re ever interested in a boxing anime that is very realistic yet enjoyably styalized you should watch Hajime No Ippo. The director of the show had a background in boxing and the show has several real world parallels to professional boxing. It’s also very distinct in it’s entertainment because it uses actual jet fighter sound clips for the punches to convey the weight of the hits and an art style that graphs itself nicely to the real boxing styles/techniques so it’s easy to follow with the eye without detracting from the momentum of a fight. There are plenty of good clips even on YouTube of some of the hype moments that get replayed over and over without getting stale. I went into it thinking it would be your run of the mill boxing show. It is, but the way it sells it is beyond fantastic. You could hate sports in general and still love the show.

I humbly suggest to add Hajime no Ippo to your sports anime list (and to take it on one season at a time with gaps in between sincethere is a lot of it and it’s much more episodic than Jojo’s or HxH)

Real Steel had a better concept. It was using drone robots altogether. Megalo Box is a fucking retarded idea that insults the sport of boxing. This isn’t "futuristic." There’s no way in hell this stupid fucking idea would ever get approved in the real world where everybody uses their brain. Wtf is the point of boxing when you’re using mechanized arms to make yourself stronger and faster? That’s retarded. We demonize steroids for a reason, because it gives people an unfair advantage! Needless to say robotic enhancements. Also, a normal punch is powerful enough, you add robotic arms in that equation, and that should kill a man instantly. Again it’s a retarded fucking idea. However, the series was saved by the fact that Joe is going the gearless route. At least there’s a solid reason to root for the MC.

I am surprised, people voted this when they are yet to watch Hajime no Ippo, I liked the first episode of this, mostly because everything else this season was for the most part garbage, but even this got uninteresting quickly.
