His eyes (from his mother) are the eyes of the otsutsuki clan and his father was a reincarnate of the sage of 6 paths child (a half god) Boruto has more god in him than anyone else in the series after madara (hashirama doesn’t count he was only a reincarnation of hamura and wasn’t directly related to hagoromos bloodline while madaras great grandfather is actually Indra

Boruto always had the eye bc his mom is hyuga and his dad has sixth paths chakra and us a reincarnation but the ability he got from killing momshiki was the mark on his hand in which you can see if you look closely and if you saw the preveiw of the first episode you saw he had blue marks on his arm and that was the the ability he got from killing momoshiki

have you two been keeping up since this fight? he did get a power from killing the guy. he always had the eye and has that eye basically because his genes are the closest to the genes of the otusuki clan(however you spell it) hyuga, uzumaki, and whatever else they are. Or at least that’s the theory but it makes a lot of sense. Only reason why naruto got taken was because naruto and sasuke HAD to protect the village from the blast which weakened him then sasuke teleported all the hokage and boruto plus the two idiot scientist guys. They were both weakened for this fight. Especially since after getting knocked out in the village Naruto had his chakra being sucked out before sasuke and all of them arrived to save em.

Boruto got the genes(?) from Naruto (Hagoromo) and Hinata (Hamura) lineage combining both making him (together with Himawari) possess the strongest bloodline ever from the Ootsutsuki family. That’s why he got a special dojutsu which is called Jougan. Momoshiki saying that killing a god doesn’t mean that he gave him Jougan rather it is already awakened even during his stay in the Ninja academy.

Technically Boruto possess Otsusuki powers because of his bloodline (Uzumaki+Hyuuga) , which made his Byakugan evolved into Jougan
And yes he get some powers after he defeat Momoshiki as well, it left a Karma seal on his palm

That eye is the result of his genetics making his chakra extremely similar to Kaguya’s. He is the child of reincarnation on Ashura and the girl whom Hamura gave his power. He is like 75% Kaguya. He gets a curse mark from killing Momoshiki, which he uses to activate his eye.

When defeating Momoshiki with the final Rasengan, Momoshiki’s remains of chakra appear and give Boruto a prophecy. Upon giving this prophecy Momoshiki notices that Boruto has the eyes and lineage of the “Byakugan.” He is referring to the Otsutsuki bloodline from the Hyuga Clan.As a result, Momoshiki knew Boruto was a descendant of the Otsutsuki lineage as well as having the dojutsu within him, so that is why I believe Momoshiki gave Boruto his power with the curse mark. Momoshiki probably already knew about Kara’s existence and that is why he wanted to give his power to Boruto in order for him to defeat them.
Momoshiki is keeping the power of the Otsutsuki only with the Otsutuski. Keeping it in the family, by leaving Boruto this power he is hoping Boruto can stop whatever future problem may arise (such as Kawaki). And it is rumored that Kawaki is apart of Kara.
