Welcome to the first episode of ANIME CLUB SUPER! We’ve been waiting for (literally) years to bring this back and I couldn’t be happier. This time we’re trying something new and Anime Club Super will have seasons. This first season is dedicated to STUDIO GHIBLI MOVIES! All of Anime Club Super will be filled with spoilers since it is an anime club, after all. Please be sure to watch the movie beforehand so we don’t ruin anything for you!

I remember the very first episodes of the original Anime Club when Will was like, "Yeah… Naruto. Dragon Ball Z. Anime is cool!." And now he’s experienced so much more on top of coming out of his shell compared to back then and has such wonderful, thoughtful insights to bring. This is the one thing that’s jumped out at me like, wow I watched Will grow up into his true self. *insert obligatory "final form" joke*
Also, I always love the perspective and knowledge that Reina brings being Japanese. The cultural aspect which is so spiritual is one of my favorite thing about Miyazaki’s works! Mononoke-hime and Spirited Away are tied for my #1.

Ugh! I feel like if we could get the word out to every former SFN fan about this show, they would all come in and watch it! I believe that a lack of streams of info on who’s doing what and when really hurts the kinda shows that I wanna watch, cause I’ve been looking forward to this for over three years, yet YouTube didn’t even tip me off to it until now, a couple weeks later!
Not that YouTube is to blame necessarily, I know they try to bring me relevant stuff and all, it’s just that I wish they could read my mind already.

Not to be picky but iron town just had guns, the samurai obviously had swords so they had to of had iron as well just not gun powder and the invention of rifles I guess

Omg, love Reina!! One of my favorite moments is when Moro speaks to Ashitaka about the the reasoning behind how the Forrest spirits and the humans cannot get along. It really spoke to me when she specifically said that we cannot hear the cries of the Forest. It is in a way her saying that she understands that the evil or wrong actions mankind makes is because of our ignorance and inability to see, I guess the full picture. Such a great film! Truely my all-time favorite movie!

Hey I know I’m super late and stuffs and this is super irrelevant to these awesome movies but Reina senpai can you PLEASE do vocaloid covers of you want and no I’m not just typing this comment just because your Japanese thats only half of the reason but mostly because I want to hear your voice whenever I hear my American friends song a Japanese vocaloid song it’s so off but whenever I hear a Japanese cover its in best and everything so that’s all Bye

Maybe an unpopular opinion but…I love Mononoke but I can’t stand Nausicaa? I really tried to like it bc my younger siblings loooove Nausicaa, but I did not like it at all. I do see the similarities between it and Mononoke, but I think Mononoke was executed way better in terms of story and visuals and, I think, had a lot more to say. Idk, I just fucking love Mononoke and I hope I can see it in theaters this year since it wasn’t in theaters anymore when I first watched it as a kid?

One of my fave moments in Princess Mononoke is when San pins AshiTaka to the ground and holds a knife to his throat and yells "I’ll kill you!" And he responds "You’re beautiful." Like, damn, dude knows what’s up ?

The feeling you’re talking about 22:50, yes, so spot on! I’ve felt that with almost all Ghibli movies, so much that I have a lot of the music from those movies in a playlist called only "Calming", and I also love that you mention it’s the same with "Your Name", because I felt so much when I first saw Your Name and only the second time realized it was the same feeling I get from Ghibli-movies. Rambling out!

I’ve been watching this series all out of order sand it’s still great. Love the enthusiasm. Can’t wait till you guys watch The Cat Returns (my favorite). Also Tale Of Earthsea. I wonder if Will would give it a 10 out of 10. (I think it gets an unfair rep)

My favourite moment is when Ashitaka is travelling away from his home and it shows the beautiful landscapes with the growing instrumentals ; . ; so beautiful and heart-wrenching!

When I think of the "one thing wrong" being Ashitaka’s fiancé I thought it was bittersweet how they both respected his banishment from the village to go find his cure.
