A Studio Ghibli special, this was a beautiful story overall, it got terribly annoying towards the end cause there were some people who needed to die but didn’t, I guess Miyazaki had his reasons, lol.

This was the first Ghibli movie I watched. It was a showing in the other movie theater I’m close to a few years ago. I watched it with my mom too

An impressively complex and interesting story. I have to admit it is not my favorite Studio Ghibli movie…it has its flaws. But it is still great. No bad guys…no good guys. Just a bunch of people and spirits doing their best in a complex and difficult world.

Amazing fact it will blow you mind the girl named kaya at the start of the movie is actually ashikata fiance who gave him the locket. Also it is completely confirmed that she was pregnant with his kid. And his descendent from her passed down his legend. The movie name was first supposed to be legend of ashikata. That is why he has more screen time then monoke. You can even check the wiki fandom of girl name kaya it is real. The japanese women hated his character for him being a cheater. He was shown as brother to her for the western audience. Go check the fandom page of girl named kaya.

As someone whose name is the title of the movie and who is supposed to be the main character, Mononoke didn’t do much and wasn’t shown much. Ashitaka took her spotlight from the beginning till the end.
Tbh, all I really cared about was Yaku the elk, very happy he didn’t die😊
