I could go on and on for hours or days about the works by Ghibli and Miyazaki, and there would be little to no controversy over what would be said about the impact they have done to not only Japanese cinema and animation, but also animation around the world – What i would say is equally important is the compositions by Hisaishi which are as beautifully, emotionally, and melodically crafted in much the same way that they are memorable years later like John Williams.
Film scoring always takes a back seat to the visual spectacle, but the real emotions for me are the mixing of the seen and the heard. I love Joe Hisaishis compositions as much as Williams and i think i speak for many people when i say that many of his themes and melodies are as memorable as the first moment that we heard Hedwigs Theme or Jurassic Parks Theme.

As someone who loves this movie and will LITERALLY COME FIND YOU, TORTURE YOU, KILL YOU AND FEED YOU TO YOUR DOG WHILE YOUR SCREAMING FAMILY WATCHES IN ABJECT HORROR if you say anything bad about this movie… this video was good. That part about the forest spirits had me rolling. Fight less, talk more, slap people who disagree wi- I mean…. ugh. Sorry.

The funniest thing is that as a little kid, my father rented me this movie from our long gone video store, and I was like watching it, but at that time I knew it wasn’t for me because I didn’t understand a lick of what was happening, I might have been like 4 and I thought it was boring.

Your section about Ashitaka taking the step into nothing reminds me of "the magicians" BOOK SIERIES NOT SHOW… in that they discuss what it means to be a hero. A hero is not the one that wins, they are the one that sacrifices everything. It is implied that the iron ball is was the bullet from Lady Eboshi when he was defending the great forest. ( the giant white boar was his successor) it became corrupted with the boar’s hate, like an infection, literally. And that influences the whole rest of the move

I always thought that the crystal knife was the symbol oh askitaka telling san that he loved her. In the sense of like, the dagger represented the last part of his hearts love, given to him as a person, when he was still "human". Idk, I feel like him doing that implied that they were going to fall in love at some point.

Man is nature. It is a religious construct to suggest they are separate—man vs. nature is an absurdity and arrogant. Maybe man vs. other kinds of nature. That nature invented man is nature’s problem, and it’s not a moral issue that humans might be little more than a tech-advanced virus that, sure, triggered climate change and therefore kills its own host and itself. If the universe is "survival of the fittest," it’s no wonder no alien civilization can rise up—because that tension never fades away, no matter how much love we have. Sentient beings likely always destroy themselves and destroy their planets. It’s nature own fix. So grow up, Mikey. Be consistent. (And sorry.)
