just for your information, in the manga, it was far more savage than in anime. The final score was 21-6 / 21-7 for both match. Serigawa literally kiss the floor in both first and second game~ Dont make Ayanon go full-killer mode haha~

I had to fix my errors sorry about that. i think Ayno is seeking revenge on her mother using badmitten as a weapon. Doing whatever it takes to face her so called.protege she met at training camp in episode 5. If i was in her shoes I’d probably do the same thing as payback. But it will be at a cost, like that question wavering in the back of her mind. What did it achieve? Was it worth it in the end? Did it solve her rage ? however at the same time Ayno is still looking for resolve and complex answers on how to handle her frustration regarding her mother, and what she would do if she got the chance to actually talk to her or play against her at the end of the series

Well Kaoruko got the punishment she deserved for what she did to Ayano. She thought that her pride and ego would win if she combined it with her so called hard work. In the end her hard work has potential but never enough to go against Ayano’s natural talent.
For Ayano, her satisfaction when defeating Kaoruko is brutal and gone totally towards the dark side. She not only beat Kaoruko, but also talks badly that she didn’t have the power to play against her. Elena was shocked that Ayano talked disrespectfully and tried to realize her words were wrong, but Ayano so caught up on all the winning is focusing on her goal: to win everything.
So even though Kaoruko lost, she had cause pain for Ayano that her consequence of winning when she cheated made Ayano to tumble towards despair and mentally unstable though the manga and the anime series. Kaoruko started the problem, made Ayano’s Mom to abandon Ayano at a young age, and still acts as a spoiled brat. Will she learn her mistake or just repeat the injustice action she caused on Ayano? To me Kaoruko needs to discover her mistake before it will cost her future in badminton.

I agree with what you say about Ayano acting like her mother I think what connie said at the end of episode 5 really triggered Ayano other persona honestly if I was elena and she keeps acting like this I’d say either "can I ask you a question….when your mother entered those tournaments don’t you think she behaved the same way you are behaving right now?" or "there is a world of difference between being competitive and being a good sport"maybe that would have got through to her head but that’s just my opinion

I think this anime have 2 main character which are ayano and aragaki. In semifinal, ayano will fight aragaki and that was when aragaki will make ayano realised what is her reason to play badminton. Aragaki will make ayano realised that she play badminton because of enjoyable exciting sport-like or because of her mother. Maybe aragaki will make ayano realised and shows her fucking mother that she is stronger than her and the badminton play of her is not her mother way or anyone which is solely her pure effort. Other than that, I think aragaki will make ayano realised that every mother never hated or leaves her child alone. Aragaki lose the match against ayano. In the final, ayano will fight against the fucking blondie connie. And the rest you can guess whether bad ending or happy ending

Ayano’s talk with Elena was perfectly on point though. Ayano didn’t want to join this club, she was literally dragged there by Elena and guilted into playing by everyone repeatedly commenting on how talented she was. Is it any surprise that she’s not playing to make friends or be a good sportsman? She was strongarmed onto this team because she’s good at winning, so playing to win is exactly what she’s doing. To be honest I kind of love this vindictive streak in Ayano.

The defeat was a bit of an anti-climax after all Kaoruko did to Ayano, but we knew beforehand that a writer who takes so much pleasure in humiliating a dark-haired character would not let the character they used for that purpose get her comeuppance as bitter as it should have been served. So the match was far from as one-sided as it should have been. I loved Ayano using the handkerchief as a hairband and offering it to Kaoruko after her defeat. The grinding you in the dust and thanking Kaoruko for making her what she has become was pretty cool too. I’m loving this more aggressive and ruthless Ayano so far;

This episode was honestly pretty disappointing, I was hoping ayano would smash her completely like 21/0 both games with how close they were it didn’t really give catharsis to what pink hair did to ayano when they were kids. Not to mention they tried to make us feel bad for pink hair with how they presented the loss which just doesn’t work with how her character was originally presented. Just not worth the time.

Ayano’s character in anime is very different in manga. I dunno why in Anime she made her that way. I almost love the story but because they made it opposite from the manga, it was really a disappointment. Aragaki is more trashy type in manga than Ayano. Was curious why manga was stopped.
