The plot is a cliché at this point and the animation is simply lousy.
If you have a critical taste and don’t settle for anything just because it exists, you’re going to hate this season.

I think not having a backstory is part of the show’s novelty. I mean, we do get a quick backstory in S1 and i think that’s enough.

For those saying “Season 2 is bad because Madhouse is not the studio”, you’re clearly wrong. Even having madhouse back won’t do much because season 1 was a joint project, meaning that 2 studios (Bones studio and Madhouse) were working on it. Let’s just appreciate that J.C staff was able to pull it off despite being a studio that usually animates romance animes.

I admit jc staff do great job about story line.. U can see in the end of episode 1 when hell blizzard and sonic make a statement (and also post credit scene) feel like "damn, can’t wait for next episode"

Hi! This is the first reasonable review I’ve seen on this episode. It acknowledges the issues with the animation and artistic effects while not getting so hung up on them that it forgets to discuss the story and characters within. Nice insight in Saitama trusting Genos enough to walk away and leave him to it rather than hovering not too far away the way he was previous season. King, ah, now isn’t that a joy? 🙂

Almost no music, marginally decent animation, and absolutely none of madhouse’s comedic timing perfect for this series. Voice acting sounded strange too, like the actors were all dead 🙁 bit of a disappointment and I am very sad…
