The *only* reason I caught OPM was that I saw his dream fight from this episode in a "top 5 anime fights from [insert year it came out]". So basically all I knew was that there would be well animated action.
There is a *lot* more than just well animated action.
For example, I’ve seen this episode probably half a dozen times. I only *just* realized that this episode in particular is a *savage* attack on some core Japanese principles about work ethic. Should’ve been obvious, given the unemployed businessman framing, but it was crystal clear this time. Sometimes you can follow all of the advice the world gives you and still be miserable…

Definitely keep watching OPM! You’re right that there isn’t a whole lot of struggle for the main character in the traditional sense but there are plenty of cool side characters and the show is just straight up badass and beautifully animated!

one punch man is like any other anime but reversed. Other anime started from a powerless character trying to get stronger to become the strongest. But one punch man started with a strong character who who has all the power he needs and just wanted to find an opponent worthy enough for a fight.

Hahaha OPM…the parody of superhero stories It’s the anime that takes the situation "what would happen if you take someone so overly OP character that they can destroy ANYTHING in one punch, …. and then drop him into a cliche, ultra political superhero community". I find it interesting since I found the original "crappy illustration" series so good. The refined illustration version, which the anime is based on has ultra sexy images but the pacing of the original was my favorite.

One Punch Man and its current arc probably the best manga, period. If it is animated by good studio it will blast the f out every anime the season it releases, no doubt whatsoever.
