I’ll just re-post what I said in my comment on the Lago reaction:
The first time I watched this episode, it threw so much at me that the full implications didn’t entirely sink in. Re-watching it though, it really hits me hard – the Rei we’ve come to know and love over the past 23 episodes died. All that remains of her in this new Rei are vague impressions: an intangible sorrow causes her to shed tears without knowing why. She sees Gendo’s glasses and feels bitter anger. However, the Rei who fell in love with Gendo, who smiled for Shinji, who thanklessly took charge while letting Asuka pretend to lead, who began to feel her own sense of identity and individuality, who blushed at the idea of being considered motherly and who learned what it meant to cry out of sadness before sacrificing her life to save Shinji, is gone.

Angels actually also "get older" in some way, so the angels at the beginning of the show acted more like babies or little small children trying to get to their mother with the last angel aka Kaworu being a human like persona with complete personality and being able of complicated emotions and relationships. Yep, NERV was killing children.

Just to clarify, The most recent Rei is the 3rd Rei. The 2nd one is the one we saw almost this entire series. The 1st one died as a child in a flashback. Killed by Ritsuko’s mother which she committed suicide afterward.

I’m always dying a little bit inside when I hear Asuka’s improvised "german" dub… but props to the japanese voice actress for trying, ain’t easy, I think I would butcher japanese as well. haha !

I want to hurt Asuka for crying for Kaji that she’s getting mindraped and crying at Shinji for saying that she’s okay! I hate how fragile these traumatized emotional crap of characters in this anime are! I want to hurt them all!!!! They need to just get over some of their issues because it’s been over 10 years since they happened and they still haven’t got over it! They are so weak!

Ritsuko loved Gendou. She killed the Reis because Gendou only care about Rei, and by sending her to Seele, proved that he never care at all for her.
Also, by the short dialogue in the next episode, it was clear they had sex multiple times.

"Voice actor is doing a good job though" , haha, they try but the german the japanese voice actors speak in NGE is horrendous ! It is not only wrong but also the pronounciation is totally off ! I don’t blame them though, they tried and it is hard to get proper german down without studying in great detail ^^ Would be the same the other way around I guess 😛 NGE is one of the few shows where I prefer thet dub over subs (although the english dub isn’t too god either, ther geman one is pretty good… but then it gets weird to catch when Asuka is speaking german… it just stays the same 😀 ) Nice reaction tho !
