People always miss it but that montage where boruto’s rasengan is growing is coming from Naruto. The people that it shows are the people that had the most impact on him. They don’t need to be dead to have made an impact. That’s why they show people at a certain point in time. It’s showing that Naruto became strong through not only hard work but losing important people and developing the urge to want to grow stronger so that no one else has to die. If you watch the episodes leading up to that when Boruto is trying to rely on ninja tech you’ll see it was perfectly placed. They bring it home when Boruto asks, “what did it take to get this big?” And Naruto smiles after we’ve seen his pain/power through boruto’s rasengan. This is the weight of his heart and his responsibility but he can bear it because he is him. Fucking beautifully done
