I really, really didn’t like Spirited Away as an adult or a kid. It feels messy, and as a kid, just kinda weirded me out. There’s no real growth or progression, but it feels like a 6 year old playing with a dollhouse with a "and then this happened" plot. The use of magic felt inconsistent, the parents were punished but never had to learn anything (because they were turned to pigs arbitrarily to advance the plot), and the climax of the movie of the girl looking through the pigs to see if her parents were in the group, was just a gut feeling, not choice that she made out of the knowledge that she obtained from the rest of the film, as would have happened in a decent movie. If Spirited Away was released now with computer graphics, it would be mocked and dismissed as trash, because the only two decent characters in the film were the hungry garbage ghost, and the dragon kid. The whole thing needed a rewrite, and should have had much more of a "Willy Wonka" vibe in my opinion, with the child learning from the mistakes of the adults in her life or something.
However Castle in the Sky is beautifully simplistic and fantastical, and shows more nuanced characters making realistic choices in tense situations, and the two main characters growing as people for the entire journey. I especially loved how the pirates taught the audience not to judge character on appearances.

About corpse party I agree that all the gore is unesscary , that is because the anime does not tell the story properly and all the gore seems out of place .It’s all squished into four episodes and that has resulted in all the gore being shown instead of the actual story .
Throughout the game yes there is gore but there is also a good story. The game is much better than the anime

I read mha but it is not as good as people make it seem. It’s one of the manga where I skipped an arc due to boredom. And that loli arguement was very weak but I respect your opinion.

black clover doesn’t take 49 episodes to get good, it only takes like 4. i’m not a big shonen fan, specially long running ones, this one starts out pretty cliché at first but it get better relatively quickly and the fight scenes are brilliant

I know this video is kind of old, but I’d like to put in my opinion on what Joey said at 17:45 when he was talking about castle in the sky. Now correct me if I’m wrong, but castle in the sky was one of ghibli’s first movies before they went mainstream and was made in the 80’s. Castle in the sky was different due to how they captured natural movements so well, you could tell they put so many details into every single frame to the point where it looks natural. this was before ghibli became mainstream, and generally, when studios first start out they put in a crazy amount of love and effort into the project. I’m not saying all modern ghibli movies are garbage, what I am saying is that there are multiple factors that play into castle in the sky and its visual appeal. It’s like comparing old rubber house cartoons to modern cartoons, rubber house had limited sources and generally took longer to produce which give them this certain look and feel. No matter how hard modern cartoons may try they could never capture that raw feel unless they were using the same method and circumstances the rubber house cartoons were in. Hopefully this made sense, if it didnt, its cause I’m bad at explaining things

It can be seen as disturbing to fetishize lolis but think about this. There are young people of both genders under the age of 18 that look much older than 18 in some parts of the world. If a person is attracted to someone they truly believe is an adult but is not, does that make them a pedophile? . I also know of two females that, to this day are in their late 20s yet still legit could pass as middle schoolers. They have boyfriends, does that automatically mean they are pedos? Of course not. My point is, the line is not black or white, it’s gray as fuck and it’s rude to assume someone’s a pedophile in this day and age unless it’s overwhelmingly obvious.

I’m just going to say it to summarize 75% of the comments section:
One Piece, Naruto and Dragon Ball are the current Kings of Shonen. The reason why there are three animes is because each anime being the king of anime is ambiguous. Boku no Hero Academia is not even the Prince of Shonen (Bleach, Yu Yu Hakasho and Hunter X Hunter to name a few). Sure, I have to admit that it is King of Shonen in this time period but I don’t believe it’ll reach up to OP, Naruto and DB’s pedestal anytime soon. Remember, BHA is growing, but so is One Piece, Naruto and Dragon Ball.
