The Manga has a more light hearted comedic tone to it, the Anime is severely exagerating the emotions portrayed by the characters, Ayano is not that gloomy of a girl in the manga, also some of the events, are swapped around, like when they visit Ayano’s house, in the manga it comes after the training camp,

I can understand Connie’s bitchiness to Ayano but I’m still not the biggest fan of her. I think just like Ayano, Connie experienced similar abusive coaching that tied competition success to received affection of a mother figure which made her lash out at Ayano. Like “I must validate myself as her daughter by being better than her biological daughter because in the end I don’t have something like blood to tie me to mom”. I’m anime only but I’m sure and it’s already been slightly hinted at that Connie’s life was kind of shit until Ayanos mom showed up so that’s probably why she’s so attached. Not a good excuse for her behavior but just a reason…

_In the anime, ayano’s mother act like a rude mother left her daughter and say no word. Even praise another blonde thot and Ayano went God mode
_In the manga, she beg for grandparent to raise her daughter like a normal child because she raise Ayano like a badminton player so she cry a lot and left ayano behind and btw the relationship between Ayano and Connie like sister although Ayano still hate her mom because leave she behind so i feel bad for her mom

Connie isnt horrible. She apologized to her teammate and her teammates like her. Only cause shes mean to Ayano doesnt make her a horrible person.
Ayanos mother is also more selfless than anyone of us. She was helping a girl who was totally unrelated to her. We would only help people who are releated to us while she did it for a stranger. So i would say thats pretty amazing of her. Someone who helps strangers isnt horrible.

Ayano’s mother is terrible, but the story is pretty terrible too. Just your cliché psycho overpowered blonde girl ruins life of goody-goody timid dark haired girl for the millionth time. Sure would be nice to have some fiction where blondes and redheads aren’t always portrayed as near omnipotent psychopats and brunettes as helpless nice girls. You know. Something actually creative.
