If there’s one thing we need to remember… its context. Connie may not be the most likeable character, but Hanebado Episode 9 tries really hard at making us like her. I do wonder how Ayano will react to her mother next week. Ready for Hanebado Episode 10 Review?

I really dislike the relationship between Connie, Ayano and their mother. Who in their right mind leaves their child and raise another foreign kid just like that. It seems a bit unrealistic. But look past that, I sort of understand why Ayano acts like she does. I hope they will focus on Nagasi soon because the story about Ayano and her mother issue is getting dull, in my opinion.
Ps. I cringed when Connie spoke Danish. I couldn’t understand a word she said plus the translation was off too. They should just stick to Japanese.

I didn’t read the manga but Ill call the next episode now. Ayano pushes Nagisa to injury prone basically alienating herself from the team even Elana. We learn her mom had an injury and couldn’t cope with Ayanos love for badminton afterwards that she had to leave not to ruining it.
On your stuff mentioned chibi theres no way conjie couodn’t have not known about the relationship. She doesn’t see or hear from her sister since learning about her should be a big enough flag for her to know. I can deal with the attitude issues and all but that logic of her not knowing holds 0 water.

If the series follows the original material, it will come down to the epic match between Ayano and Aragaki(2 fantastic characters btw). And after an amazing showdown, it results to Aragaki’s victory and also beating the sense into Ayano while and after the fight. And let me teel you, it was fucking amazing. And their bonds becomes stronger as well. (Even though I did like savage Ayano XP, too bad)

Like i said from the beginning. Connie was never evil. The episode she was introduced showed us what a nice person she is. All her friends like her and she is a very nice person. Seems like you people all forgot the aftermath. Thats the reason they showed us the bathing scene. Not because of fan service but to show how much she is loved by her teammates. Only cause she didnt like Ayano doesnt make her a bad person!

I enjoyed this episode since we are nearing to reason with Ayano’s mother and also true that Nagisa is very useful in this plot to wake up Ayano’s darkness.

I loved it, because the misunderstandings of us viewers of the characters is the same as the misunderstandings between the characters itself. 🙂

Connie still sucks. She trying to insert herself into Ayano life and it’s annoying af. She obviously doesn’t understand that what she whats (aka a family) isn’t gonna happen because of how fucked up her “mother” really is. Ayano’s reaction to Connie is not right but is justified by what she’s been through especially seeing as a random ass girl is claiming to be her sister and wants to start a family with along with the mother who abandoned her. Shits all types of fucked up and I can see why ayano acts the way she acts.

Pretty much my feeling… In itself, the episode was great, but it just feels completely disconnected from the previous ones. I still don’t get why they made Connie such a douchebag in the early episodes, only to make her all nice afterwards.

I really appreciate that you gave this episode a rewatch because yes, it’s messy, but I enjoyed seeing each characters’progress, and we were offered with more sides to each character than just their initial appearance.

I watched the particular scene without any idea about their situation. I can see Ayano has serious family issues while Connie looks like the victim but if you watch the scene carefully you can deduce Connie did something awful to Ayano for her to act like that.

Connie is feeling desperate to be recognized as a part of the family. Ayano doesnt want one since she feels she’s done with all the issues with her mother. Lack of communication is the thing, like what you said Chibi. Especially the mother.

The most logical explanation why Connie turns completely 180° maybe because she has trouble expressing herself, and went the worst way to introduce herself to Ayano. Then her friends later talked her into it, so she changed her way and tries to be more honest that she just wanted a family all along.

I hope Ayanos mother misses out with both daughters. It is unforgivable to leave a sick child without further ado. Then she raises another child in another country and does not worry about her biological daughter who suffers. Surely Ayanos behavior is not right, but how would you react if a stranger tells you she was raised by your mother who just left you? Connie’s behavior in the last episodes was also wrong, but she was also unaware of the behavior of her foster mother to her stepsister. I do not know anything about her past, but I would feel exploited in this situation because I would think that she simply accepted me as a substitute for her own daughter to ease her conscience.

Bottomline is, Ayano dunked Connie in liquid nitrogen-cold cruelty, then threw her down to the ground, and that’s the greatest scene in that episode. Angry Ayano is best Ayano.
I do hope Nagisa doesn’t bust herself before her match.

This is the first time i have to disagree with you on hanebado review if a person has an inferiority complex it will always show every time they meet and since manga wise they became friendly rivals compared here
I got to say that they have to turn connie 180 from out of nowhere to go back to the manga route then going back to anime route and the inconsistency is so bad
And yes i did rewatched episodes 1 to 8 and to be told that connie telling ayano that her mothrr will never acknowledge her is damn like youre not even worth the time then going to episode 9 i want to be a family with you my ass
Given i can say connie was talking about badminton but even you as a person would you like to be said by another person that your family will not acknowledge you during those times youre working hard is a hard blow for most people during high scholl times
So i understand what youve said just i have a different opinion on that
