I’m not freaked out by this, I didn’t see Totoro for the first time till I was 15 or 16 when I saw it, but still loved it, yet hearing this makes me think of that incident you spoke of, don’t get me wrong, I love learning about many historical events, no matter how happy or tragic they may be, but learning about that incident is like learning about the second world war or the war of Vietnam. Also, I don’t believe the theory is true, I believe it’s just coincidence and eventually was proven wrong. If it were true, than everyone would’ve seen something on the Wikipedia about it relating to an event the film was based on, but so far, there isn’t.
