IK86 Reviews – Dragon Ball Z: Budokai (NGC)
IK86 Reviews – Dragon Ball Z: Budokai (NGC)
My review for the first installment of the Dragon Ball Z Budokai Trilogy is here, and powering up to full strength.
A couple of things to note…
1. If there are any reviews for this game already on Youtube, I havent found them. I did a thorough search before doing this review and found just reviews for the Budokai Tenkaichi games, plus Budokai 3.
2. This is a review for the NTSC version of the game, the only version to feature the English voice cast
3. In regards to the fighters being indentical to each other, the same can be said about the recent Budokai Tenkaichi series, although Im more forgiving towards those games since they, unlike the Budokai series, arent fighters in the traditional sense.
Enjoy, and feel free to comment 🙂

Why the hell in every review of a DBZ game does the reviewer say it’s a fun and great game to play, then give it a 7 out of 10? that’s not a score fir a great game, just an average one.
June 8, 2019 @ 10:10 am
And what about DBZ Ultimate Budokai?
June 8, 2019 @ 10:11 am
i love this game but it sucks htat only the first player can use custom for there characters. thankfully they fixed that in the sequel
June 8, 2019 @ 10:11 am
@Zackplayer123 Believe bro just order it online since no place has it thats what im doing i checked eveywhere it pissed me off i did not find it not even playandtrade has it and that cant be because of date do to the fact they sell late 90’s late 80’s games games for ps1 and NES they even sell MGS 2 which game out a year before DBZB1 on ps2 2 years before DBZB1 on gamecube.
June 8, 2019 @ 10:12 am
the NGC version is way better than the ps2 version cun th NGC version is in ENGLISH while the PS2 version is in japanese and god goku’s japanese voice gets annoying after a while
June 8, 2019 @ 10:14 am
I have this in PS2!
June 8, 2019 @ 10:14 am
i remember this game, it was so kick ass
love the music in it too
June 8, 2019 @ 10:15 am
This intro is my favorite! How come you replaced it?
June 8, 2019 @ 10:15 am
I agree. There were even some funny voice acting withing the seriousness.
June 8, 2019 @ 10:17 am
I disagree with the Japanese Voice Cast. They did an excellent job, I really don’t like english dub’s, I would kill someone to be able to turn off the english and play with the original japanese voice cast.
June 8, 2019 @ 10:19 am
I got it for free. You know buy two get one free deals, but originally it was going to be 5 bucks, no swet
June 8, 2019 @ 10:20 am
I thought the voice acting was fine. It was like watching the anime all over again…. just shorter lol.
June 8, 2019 @ 10:24 am
the japenese voices are sometimes, the blone hair guy with the glasssess, where when you doing the tournament he’s like mmmmmmm tuuuuuuuuunip 😛
June 8, 2019 @ 10:25 am
This was my first DBZ game : )
June 8, 2019 @ 10:28 am

June 8, 2019 @ 10:28 am
i cant find this game anywhere….
June 8, 2019 @ 10:29 am
do you have a review for the PS2?
June 8, 2019 @ 10:29 am
Yeah they sell it for like $4.00 there
June 8, 2019 @ 10:31 am
this one was more legit than some of the games that came later
June 8, 2019 @ 10:36 am
@MrClawzofdeath It’s not for no reason, you have to have "x" amount of ki gauges (that number under your health bar) to be in a certain type of form. Say Goku was in Kaioken x10, you need 4 ki gauges to do it, so if you fall under that you go back to x5.
June 8, 2019 @ 10:37 am
@Zackplayer123
Have you tried Gamestop?
June 8, 2019 @ 10:38 am
First DBZ game I ever played and was my "7th" game I ever got on the game cube. I was still kind of hyped up on street fighter since that was the only other game I had on the SNES that I was surprised I could actually do something other than button press to do a special attack. As a kid I was pretty much like ‘Hey, mom I can do a Kamehameha without having to press everybutton on the controller!’
June 8, 2019 @ 10:39 am
This was a great game. But Infinate World is still my favorite.
June 8, 2019 @ 10:41 am
Bad voice acting?! Are you kidding!? The voice actors did amazing!
June 8, 2019 @ 10:42 am
I would kill to be able to play this again…
June 8, 2019 @ 10:42 am
@RemoKinga NIGGA STOLE MA BIKE!!!!!!!!!
June 8, 2019 @ 10:43 am
Which Budokai on the gamecube do you think is best? I am thinking of buying a 2D fighting DB game for my Wii but some people say that Budokai 2 has more characters but isn’t as much fun as Budokai 1 :/
June 8, 2019 @ 10:43 am
@AutumnSims In Gamestops, Maybe. It Was Released In 2002. But Honestly, If You’re Looking For a Good DBZ Game, I’d Recommend Waiting For Ultimate Tenkaichi. Which Comes Out In October. But If You Really Want One Now, Go For It. It’s Only About $5.
June 8, 2019 @ 10:43 am
You forgot to mention the amazing alts this game had.
June 8, 2019 @ 10:46 am
lol at 1:43 the hit count looks like its saying "Shit"
June 8, 2019 @ 10:48 am
especially GOKU!! Sean (forgot last name) always sounds like he’s serious when he’s playing Goku, so at least HE always sounds intense.
June 8, 2019 @ 10:51 am
@ImpulseKid86 Lol. I like the way you said Budokai, nice accent there mate. D:.
June 8, 2019 @ 10:51 am
@Zackplayer123
Ooh, euh… well I guess you could just go on Amazon, or Ebay.
June 8, 2019 @ 10:52 am
wen i got this game it oficially became the best xmas ever lmao
June 8, 2019 @ 10:53 am
how awesome is it, where at the start you got to keep radditz in the the fireing range of piccolo’s special beam cannon.
June 8, 2019 @ 10:55 am
You got to admit, this game had some of the best cutscenes
June 8, 2019 @ 10:56 am
the story mode was good but it should have been longer and more things should have been added
June 8, 2019 @ 10:57 am
xD………….idiot you can change the text from comment ever xD
June 8, 2019 @ 10:57 am
@supasonic02 haha yer the s,s,s,k,o or something was hard for its time ay and when you get it correct is like freaking awesome
June 8, 2019 @ 10:58 am
I played ths game with my buddy all the time when I was 7. on his PS2. Interstingly enough the game got a Pegi 7 rating. You won’t see that in todays overly protected gaming globe. But I always used Krillin custom, he had a sensu bean. So when I died, I’d just come and wim from him. But I didn’t know any of this at the time being
June 8, 2019 @ 10:59 am
If you’re saying you can edit your comment, then no you can’t, or at least, I haven’t found out how to do so. And even if you weren’t, do you really expect someone to immediately think of a 2 year old Youtube comment they posted just from Ultimate Budokai being released? And personally, I like the cutscenes in both games, but the ones in Budokai 1 have more of a nostalgic factor to me.
June 8, 2019 @ 11:00 am
My only gripe with this games is collecting the Dragon Balls. Budokai 2’s story may have sucked but at least it was easier to collect them in that game than in this one.
June 8, 2019 @ 11:01 am
this video was made on my b-day
June 8, 2019 @ 11:01 am
what are you talking about? this is some of the best voice acting we have ever seen in a DBZ game
June 8, 2019 @ 11:03 am
@BillyTheWog1 Dude i played the ps2 version its in english.
June 8, 2019 @ 11:03 am
@janfeyen9 yes
June 8, 2019 @ 11:04 am
@ShadowSayain1 oh, ok… But how do you get The Great Saiyaman? I am very curious
June 8, 2019 @ 11:04 am
do they still sell it in stores i want to play that game its looks like a awesome game
June 8, 2019 @ 11:05 am
@rafael502 Yes but it was horrible cutscenes. It was just text and fighting. The story for the Tenkaichi’s just wasn’t interesting as much as Budokai.
