Its not impossible for hidan to still be alive. Yes there was rumors that he can die from malnourishment however little does people know is that he can still get nourishment from the ground. No I’m not saying the dirt in general but what lives in the dirt such as insects, worms, moles, and other rodients. Yes it would be tuff to do but it’s possible.
Also for those that might say "how can he gain nourishment when he has no stomach?" The answer is easy your body digestive system starts from the mouth down meaning while your chewing food and about to swallow it your actually gaining some nourishment that way. The stomach helps break larger foods down easier and the intestines help absorb more nourishment that your mouth cannot absorb.
Also even though he is being watched over in the forest after his defeat by shikumaro there was no mention on the condition of the forest after madaras assault on the Ninja nation’s during the war with the tree/10 tails especially with all the tail beast bombs flying around. True it could still be in good condition but there is no guarantee that some other powerful ninja could find a means to recover his body without being noticed.
Theory: Hidan will show in the show but it won’t be until the village is attacked and Naruto dead (assumed). If I was a villian of the show I would used hidans destructive nature to distract the village ninja, get my people in position and then do a massive attack in multiple areas. Once everyone is on damage control seek out the leader (in this case Naruto) and eliminate him. Will this plan work? Depends on those that are behind it. Anyways that’s my opinion on the subject lol

These constant comparisons to Naruto are getting silly.. thats why it’s always disappointing if u keep thinking like that.. cause us fans keep expecting the same thing. If you look in depth the message in the episode is: honor the past, look forward to the future. Something along those lines. This was all Mirai to find out more about her Dad. Ryuki symbolized a stepping stone for her to pass. It was never meant to be more. It’s just pre expectation from fans who want it like Naruto
