HANEBADO! – Synopsis :
Entraîneur du club de badminton du lycée de Kitakomachi, Kentarô Tachibana est inquiet : son équipe compte si peu de membres qu’elle ne peut même pas participer à des compétitions. Il tombe pourtant sur Ayano Hanesaki, une lycéenne qui grimpe aux arbres avec une étonnante agilité. Il tente alors de la convaincre de rejoindre son club, mais Ayano déteste le badminton…

Ugh, I love this anime but for some reason I hate the main character Hanesaki. I find her boring and uninspired. I’m supposed to buy that she loves badminton because everyone keeps saying she does, like her best friend, and because she played with her mom a lot I guess? And her mom was strict about it or whatever. Hopefully they go into backstory more since there’s only 2 episodes out. I buy that the girl with the short hair from the beginning of episode 1 was the main character, I like her a lot because she’s an actual flawed character, having a tragic backstory doesn’t make a flawed character.

Weirdly enough, this opening fits the mood of the manga (fun and light-hearted with a tinge of drama) rather than that of the anime (AAAAAAANGST with some levity here and there)… I love it nonetheless. =3
